I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do

THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading. (Colossians 3:1 –4)  St. Paul’s letter tells us to think about “things of heaven”, which would be like “heavenly treasures”, because Jesus is in heaven.  Let’s see if we can understand what he is saying to the people in the early church (and to us!)

Today’s first reading is from the New Testament letter to the Colossian people Colossians 3:1-4 (ICB)

Your New Life in Christ

You were raised from death with Christ. So aim at what is in heaven, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Think only about the things in heaven, not the things on earth. Your old sinful self has died, and your new life is kept with Christ in God. Christ is your[a] life. When he comes again, you will share in his glory.

This is the word of the Lord,

Responsorial Psalm
Happy are all who long for the coming of the Lord
Introducing the Gospel

(Lk 12:13-21)  Today St. Luke tells us about a time that Jesus told a teaching story.  Can anyone tell me what we call those kinds of stories that Jesus told?  <parable>  This parable is about a very lucky farmer.  He had a great crop one year and grew lots of food.  In the parable, the farmer was only thinking about himself.  Let’s listen to what Jesus tells us about the farmer. with Alleluia!!.,
Welcoming the Gospel:

You are welcome Lord of Lords,
You are welcome King of Kings
You are welcome Lord of Hosts
You are welcome Prince of Peace..
You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,

Alle..lluia Might God!!!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit

The Gospel reading is from the book of...” Luke 12:13-21 (ICB)

Jesus Warns Against Selfishness

13 One of the men in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide with me the property our father left us.”
14 But Jesus said to him, “Who said that I should be your judge or decide how to divide the property between you two?” 15 Then Jesus said to them, “Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. A man’s life is not measured by the many things he owns.”
16 Then Jesus used this story: “There was a rich man who had some land, which grew a good crop of food. 17 The rich man thought to himself, ‘What will I do? I have no place to keep all my crops.’ 18 Then he said, ‘I know what I will do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones! I will put all my grain and other goods together in my new barns. 19 Then I can say to myself, I have enough good things stored to last for many years. Rest, eat, drink, and enjoy life!’
20 “But God said to that man, ‘Foolish man! Tonight you will die. So who will get those things you have prepared for yourself?’
21 “This is how it will be for anyone who stores things up only for himself and is not rich toward God.”
 “The Gospel of the Lord”,
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
====  7:24 - 7:27 ====
Gospel Reflection.

Ask: What did the farmer do? <stored all his grain>  What was the message in this parable? <discuss>  Do you think that Jesus meant that the farmer shouldn’t store anything to take care of himself later?  <no, but the farmer should think about and plan to share his good luck>
One thing that is clear is that you won’t need food in heaven.  We spend a lot of time here on earth worrying about things that won’t matter at all in heaven.

Can anyone tell me something that we should think about that WILL matter in heaven? <love, sharing, being a better person, forgiving others>  Those are our true treasures.

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to do the right thing in the coming week.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
And the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven,
and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He shall come again to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

First Reading
(Gen 18:20–32) Today we are going to hear a story about God talking to Abraham about destroying a town filled with really wicked people.  Let’s listen to the scripture reading and see what we can learn about how much God really loves people and listens to them
Now give to the child to start reading the first reading below.

Today’s first reading is from the old Testament book of Genesis 18:20–32

Sodom and Gomorrah
20 Then the Lord said, “I have heard many things against the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. They are very evil. 21 So I will go down and see if they are as bad as I have heard.”

22 So the men turned and went toward Sodom. But Abraham stood there before the Lord. 23 Then Abraham approached the Lord. Abraham asked, “Lord, do you plan to destroy the good persons along with the evil persons? 24 What if there are 50 good people in that city? Will you still destroy it? Surely you will save the city for the 50 good people living there. 25 Surely you will not destroy the good people along with the evil people. Then the good people and the evil people would be treated the same. You are the judge of all the earth. Won’t you do what is right?”

26 Then the Lord said, “If I find 50 good people in the city of Sodom, I will save the whole city because of them.”

27 Then Abraham said, “I am only dust and ashes. Yet I have been brave to speak to the Lord. 28 What if there are only 45 good people in the city? Will you destroy the whole city for the lack of 5 good people?”

The Lord said, “If I find 45 good people there, I will not destroy the city.”

29 Again Abraham said to the Lord, “If you find only 40 good people there, will you destroy the city?”

The Lord said, “If I find 40 good people, I will not destroy the city.”

30 Then Abraham said, “Lord, please don’t be angry with me. Let me ask you this. If you find only 30 good people in the city, will you destroy it?”

The Lord said, “If I find 30 good people there, I will not destroy the city.”

31 Then Abraham said, “I have been brave to speak to the Lord. But what if there are 20 good people in the city?”
The Lord answered, “If I find 20 good people there, I will not destroy the city.”

32 Then Abraham said, “Lord, please don’t be angry with me. Let me bother you this one last time. What if you find 10 good people there?”

The Lord said, “If I find 10 good people there, I will not destroy it.”     This is the word of the Lord,

Responsorial Psalm
Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
Introducing the Gospel

(Lk 11:1-11)  This reading is about a time that Jesus was teaching the people who constantly surrounded him.  He told everyone – like he tells us today in scripture- to love and praise God.
with Alleluia!!.
Welcoming the Gospel

You are welcome Lord of Lords,
You are welcome King of Kings
You are welcome Lord of Hosts
You are welcome Prince of Peace..

Jesus Teaches About Prayer
11 One time Jesus was praying in a place. When he finished, one of his followers said to him, “John taught his followers how to pray. Lord, please teach us how to pray, too.”
2 Jesus said to them, “When you pray, say:
‘Father, we pray that your name will always be kept holy.
We pray that your kingdom will come.
3 Give us the food we need for each day.
4 Forgive us the sins we have done,
because we forgive every person who has done wrong to us.
And do not cause us to be tested.’”[a]
Continue to Ask
5-6 Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose one of you went to your friend’s house at midnight and said to him, ‘A friend of mine has come into town to visit me. But I have nothing for him to eat. Please loan me three loaves of bread.’ 7 Your friend inside the house answers, ‘Don’t bother me! The door is already locked. My children and I are in bed. I cannot get up and give you the bread now.’ 8 I tell you, maybe friendship is not enough to make him get up to give you the bread. But he will surely get up to give you what you need if you continue to ask. 9 So I tell you, continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. 10 Yes, if a person continues asking, he will receive. If he continues searching, he will find. And if he continues knocking, the door will open for him. 11 What would you fathers do if your son asks you for[b] a fish? Would any of you give him a snake?
 “The Gospel of the Lord”,
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”

Gospel Reflection.

Ask: What was the prayer?  <the words are different so the children may not have picked up on the “Our Father”>  What  was the PARABLE?  <about a person who was awakened in the middle of the night by a friend>   What do you think Jesus was telling us?  <he told us to be persistent, to never give up> God always hears our prayers and he will always answer them.  Sometimes the answer doesn’t quite look the way we think it should but it he always answers.

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to do the right thing in the coming week.
