parents and babies from around the world.

Liturgy of
the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the old testament
book of Isaiah
7:10-14 (NRSVCE)
Explain: Isaiah tells us tells again about the coming
of our Lord Jesus.
A prepared child/children come and take the
first reading or second reading.
The first reading is from the old book of Isaiah 7:10-14 (NRSVCE)
Isaiah Gives Ahaz the Sign of
Immanuel
10 Again the
Lord spoke to Ahaz, saying, 11 Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep
as Sheol or high as heaven. 12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, and I will not
put the Lord to the test. 13 Then Isaiah[a] said: “Hear then, O house of David!
Is it too little for you to weary mortals, that you weary my God also? 14
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman[b] is
with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel. [c]
“This
is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”.
What
did you hear?
I hope you have seen
how wonderful our God is!
He
announced the coming of Jesus, like 400years before He was born.
Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Let
the Lord enter; he is the king of glory.....>3x.
Introduce the
Gospel
In the gospel reading today, is part of Matthew’s version of the
birth of Jesus. Let’s hear what Matthew
tells us about it. Try to remember one thing about this reading...
Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the
Gospel through a song.
Chorus:
Halle Hallelujah
Halle Hallelujah
Halle Hallelujah
(Come O come Emmanuel,
Hallelujah! Come to us free.)
Silently say:”
Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your
Holy Gospel.
The
Leader starts: The Lord be with
You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the
Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to
You, O Lord
Matthew 1:18-24
(NRSVCE)
The Birth of Jesus the Messiah
18 Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah[a] took place in this way.
When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived
together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 Her husband Joseph, being
a righteous man and unwilling to expose her to public disgrace, planned to
dismiss her quietly.
20 But just when he had resolved to do this,
an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of
David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in
her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and
you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what had
been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
23 “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear
a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
which
means, “God is with us.”
24 When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as
the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took her as his wife,
The Gospel
of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and
children’s level of understanding like in the…
Gospel reflection:
Ask: What did you hear? <discuss> Did you hear anything new or that
surprised you? <discuss>
Say: This is a good story
about how God uses us, people, to bring Jesus into the world. In this
story an angel comes to tell Joseph that everything will be all right and that
Jesus is not just an ordinary baby, but is very special. He is the son of God.
Ask: What
might have happened if Joseph had not listened to his heart and had called off
the wedding? <discuss> Do
you think he prayed about it? (yes) Did
he get an answer to his prayers? (yes) It
is important to think very hard when you have a problem and listen to your
heart.
Memory Verse: “Matthew 1:24 ( “When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded
him.”...”)
Let us stand up and we profess our
faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son,
our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy
Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father
Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the
living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
