Welcome;
Today we hear how Jesus valued children and thought they were important. Let’s think about how important all children around the world are today.

Ask: Does anyone remember what our theme was for last Sunday? (a cross)  And what did it symbolize? (it symbolized believing in Jesus)
SayToday’s theme is a Hand.
Ask :  What can you do with a hand?  <Write, draw, eat, pick up things, hug people, pet cats, serve others, etc.
Explain:  What does the word serve mean?  <to do something for someone else, to help them> What can you do with your hands to serve people?  <set the table, go get something for your parent, draw a picture, etc.>  Do you think it is important to help others?
Ask:  What does a cross mean to you?  Do you have a cross?  This is something Jesus says in the Gospel today.  What could our crosses be?  <doing things we don’t want to do, bearing pain without fussing, Let the children make suggestions>

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s second reading is from the New Testament, the letter of St. James. James tells us what our lives will be like when we listen closely to God and follow His plan for our lives. Listen closely to the reading and see if you can hear something that might have to do with hands.

A prepared child comes and takes the first reading or second reading..

The second reading today is taken from the letter of James 3:17-18

International Children’s Bible (ICB)

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness. Then it is peace-loving and courteous. It allows discussion and is willing to yield to others; it is full of mercy and good deeds. It is wholehearted and straightforward and sincere.18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.
This is the word of the Lord
All say “Thanks be to God”.

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Give peace, O Lord, to those who wait for you..>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
Say:  Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Mark. (Mark 9:33-37).  In it, Jesus is sitting down with His disciples talking about what it means to be important..
Ask:  What kinds of people do you think are important?  <let the children answer; rich people, presidents, sports figures, etc.>  Do you have to do things everyone admires in order to be important?
Ask:  How about servants?  What kind of people serve others? <let the children respond>  How about children?  Are they important?  Are You important?  Why?

Welcoming the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! -
Welcoming the Gospel
Chorus:    Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
1.    Eyende mbele, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
 2.   Moto, moto, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah
Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit.

The Gospel Reading was written by Mark 9:33-37
Let Lord’s Word be in my mind <make a cross on forehead>, on my lips <make a cross on lips>, and in my heart <make a cross on the left side of the chest>

Mark 9:33-37 International Children’s Bible (ICB)

Who Is the Greatest?

33 Jesus and his followers went to Capernaum and went into a house there. Then Jesus said to them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34 But the followers did not answer, because their argument on the road was about which one of them was the greatest.
35 Jesus sat down and called the 12 apostles to him. He said, “If anyone wants to be the most important, then he must be last of all and servant of all.”
36 Then Jesus took a small child and had him stand among them. He took the child in his arms and said, 37 “If anyone accepts children like these in my name, then he is also accepting me. And if he accepts me, then he is also accepting the One who sent me.”
.The Gospel of the Lord”
“Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ”
  ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
Ask:  How can you serve others?  <let the children respond>  what Jesus is asking us to do. Explain:  The things you do for other people to serve them, to make them happy are a wonderful gift.  When you serve gladly because you want to, you are doing exactly what Jesus told His disciples to do.

Let us stand up to profess and our faith
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
                  --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the leaving  and the
dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-)Intercessions You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.
We pray together as members of one global family:

Prayer 1.  Let us pray for the church leaders, especially our Pope Francis, our Archbishop Cyprian Lwanga, and all the clergy, that they may see the importance of all their people, especially children, and make decisions based on what is best for everyone, not just the rich and powerful. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2 .  We pray for our leaders especially in our country Uganda, that they may see the importance of all their people, especially Almighty and Merciful Father, your Son Jesus Christ has taught us that what we do for those in need we also do for Him. As He became the servant of all, help our leaders to be servants to others as Jesus did.. We pray to the Lord..

Prayer 3. Let us pray for our parish, families and friends: that we may welcome all people. We know that all people are important, because they are loved by you no matter who they are, help us to do all that we can to help others to move forward with hope and in peace... We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 4 God of hope, , hear our prayers for all people who have lost their loved ones, who are sad and afraid: may they know that they are not alone or forgotten, and find the support that they need from others and for the souls of the departed, Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them... We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 5 And for us gathered here today, Loving and self-giving God,
teach us to follow the example of your Son, Jesus, who was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. Lead us to be submissive to you, and kind and considerate to others
.
 We pray to the Lord...
