Entrance
Song:
Welcome;
Today we are
going to hear about how Jesus spent 40 days in the desert. He had nothing with
him, What do you think it would be like to have to live without clean water?,
or a change of clothes? **Today
is the First Sunday of
Lent. Does anyone remember anything
about Lent? (40 days of preparing for Easter, etc.) What do we do in Lent? (we make small sacrifices, we might fast, we
think about ways to be closer to God12)
There are some
changes in the church today, <much less singing, Father is wearing purple
vestments> Does anyone remember what the color purple means in the
church? <Sadness or seriousness> During
Lent we try to make our lives simpler so that we can spend more time thinking
about God.
//V// In the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy
Spirit,
be with you all.
//R// And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us
acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to
celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have
greatly sinned
in my thoughts
and in my words
in what I have
done and In what I have failed to do
-strike
the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most
grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask
Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels
and Saints
and you, my
brothers and sisters
to pray for me to
the Lord our God
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have
sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your
mercy
And grant us your
salvation.
You were sent to heal the
contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right
hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the
almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life
everlasting? AMEN

Liturgy of
the Word
First Reading,
Introduce the reading.
Today’s
first reading is from the Old Testament, the book of Deuteronomy 26:4-10.
The reading is about a man that you all probably remember(Moses)in desert.
A
prepared child comes and takes the first reading or second reading.
4 “The priest will take the basket from you and place it
before the altar of the Lord your
God. 5 Then, in the Lord's
presence you will recite these words: ‘My ancestor was a wandering Aramean, who
took his family to Egypt to live. They were few in number when they went there,
but they became a large and powerful nation. 6 The Egyptians treated us harshly and forced us to work
as slaves. 7 Then we cried out for help to the Lord,
the God of our ancestors. He heard us and saw our suffering, hardship, and misery. 8 By his great power and strength he rescued us from
Egypt. He worked miracles and wonders, and caused terrifying things to
happen. 9 He brought us here and gave us this rich and fertile land. 10 So now I bring to the Lord the first part of the harvest that he has given
me.’
“This is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks
be to God”.
Let us focus on our
responsorial Psalm: Be with me, Lord,
when I am in trouble.
Chorus:
Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
1.
Eyende mbele, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
2. Moto, moto, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele
Halleluiah
Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I
may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit.
The Gospel Reading was written by ( St. Luke 4:1-13) Let Lord’s Word be in my mind <make a cross on
forehead>, and on my lips <make a cross on lips>, and in my heart <make a cross on the
left side of the chest>
OR
Glory to You Lord Jesus Christ.
The Temptation of
Jesus
4 Jesus returned from the Jordan full
of the Holy Spirit and was led by the Spirit into the desert, 2 where he was
tempted by the Devil for forty days. In all that time he ate nothing, so that
he was hungry when it was over.
3 The Devil said to
him, “If you are God's Son, order this stone to turn into bread.”
4 But Jesus answered,
“The scripture says, ‘Human beings cannot live on bread alone.’”
5 Then the Devil took
him up and showed him in a second all the kingdoms of the world.6 “I
will give you all this power and all this wealth,” the Devil told him. “It has
all been handed over to me, and I can give it to anyone I choose. 7 All this will be
yours, then, if you worship me.”
8 Jesus answered,
“The scripture says, ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!’”
9 Then the Devil took
him to Jerusalem and set him on the highest point of the Temple, and said to
him, “If you are God's Son, throw yourself down from here. 10 For the scripture
says, ‘God will order his angels to take good care of you.’ 11 It also says, ‘They
will hold you up with their hands so that not even your feet will be hurt on
the stones.’”
12 But Jesus answered,
“The scripture says, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
13 When the Devil
finished tempting Jesus in every way, he left him for a while.
The Gospel of the Lord”,
“Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus
Christ”

(*)Tell an
interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of
understanding.
Gospel reflection:
Ask; What
happened? <discuss> Satan tempted Jesus. What does the word temptation mean? <to make you want to do something, usually
wrong> Satan tempted Jesus by
suggesting that he turn stones into bread.
What would be a
temptation for you? <maybe your
parent bought some candy and hid it and you know where it is and want to sneak
some, OR maybe your older brother or sister told you not to go in their stuff
and you really want to> That’s the
way Jesus felt. He COULD have done what
Satan tempted him to do, but he didn’t.
He believed in God enough to trust that he would be all right without
doing wrong.
Let
us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father,
Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only
begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of
the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day, He rose again from
the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God
the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the
leaving and the
dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

God is always with us, giving us the strength and courage to take action and make
a difference and so we pray together::

this time of lent, they may seek the truth of God’s love and so bring peace to
the world…
We pray to the Lord...
Prayer 2. Let us pray for all people who don’t have clean Water
to drink and good food to eat: that God
will bring them hope, and He may help them to change their lives for the better. We pray to the Lord...
Prayer 3. Let us pray for our parish, families and friends: that
God may help us to make a
real difference to the
lives of others around us
this Lent.... We pray to the Lord..
Prayer 4. Let us pray that God refreshes all those who thirst
and guide us as we try to make sure that all our sisters and brothers around us
have enough for themselves.
We pray to the Lord...
==== 7:26 - 7:28

Silently, each one tell God your
petition.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus
Christ your Son,
