Liturgy of the Word
First
Reading
Say: Today’s first reading is from the
New Testament book called the Acts of the Apostles. (Acts 10:34a, 37-43) It
is a story that the Apostle Peter wrote to tell about what happened to
Jesus. Do you remember who the Apostles were? <special friends
of Jesus> Jesus trusted them to share his special message of love.
Have three readers read the first
reading.
Ask: If you were a child listening to
Peter tell this story, how do you think you might have felt? <let the
children share their feelings>
Acts 10:34
34 Then
Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show
favoritism
Acts 10:37-43
37 You
know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee
after the baptism that John preached— 38 how God anointed Jesus of
Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and
healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
39 “We
are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem.
They killed him by hanging him on a cross, 40 but God raised him from the
dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41 He was not seen by all
the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and
drank with him after he rose from the dead.
42 He
commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God
appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify
about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins
through his name.”
“This is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks
be to God”.
Responsorial Psalm
This is the day that the Lord has made; let
us rejoice and be glad.

The Gospel reading is from the book of ...”John
20:1-9
And at the end, say “The
Gospel of the Lord” and all
repeat “Glory and
praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ”
The Tomb Is Empty
20 Early on the
first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. It was still dark. She
saw that the stone had been moved away from the entrance. 2 So she ran to
Simon Peter and another disciple, the one Jesus loved. She said, “They have
taken the Lord out of the tomb! We don’t know where they have put him!”
3 So Peter and the
other disciple started out for the tomb. 4 Both of them were running. The
other disciple ran faster than Peter. He reached the tomb first. 5 He bent
over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there. But he did not go in.
6 Then Simon Peter
came along behind him. He went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of
linen lying there.7 He also saw the funeral cloth that had been wrapped
around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place. It was separate
from the linen.
8 The disciple who
had reached the tomb first also went inside. He saw and believed. 9 They
still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.
Gospel
of the Lord”
Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ”
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
==== 7:24 - 7:27 ====
Gospel Reflection.
Ask: What do you think? What would you think if you were one of
the friends who discovered that Jesus’ body was missing?
Explain: Jesus’ friends were still very sad when they came to
his tomb that morning. They must have been even more confused when his
body was missing. In the weeks that follow this one, Jesus appeared in
flesh and blood to his friends several times. They spent the weeks
following Easter morning trying to understand the message Jesus had for them
(and for us!)
Profession of our faith
I believe in
God the Father, Almighty,
Creator of
heaven and earth:
And in Jesus
Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: --bow
down--
Who was
conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the
Virgin Mary:
Suffered under
Pontius Pilate;
was crucified,
died and was buried:
He descended
into hell:
And the third
day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended
into heaven,
and seated at
the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He
shall come again to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in
the Holy Spirit:
the holy
catholic church:
the communion
of saints:
The
forgiveness of sins:
The
resurrection of the body:
And the life
everlasting.
Amen.
