Explain: Today is the Feast of Christ the King which is the very last Sunday of the Liturgical Year C. After this one, we begin a new Liturgical year A. The Church year begins with Advent, the season before Christmas.
Ask: Does anyone remember the symbol for last week?  <Faith-Trust> < Jesus warned us that life will be difficult and the world will face wars and disasters but that we mustn't lose hope. We must trust in God who will guide us and save us.

Welcome;
Today we hear how Jesus is laughed at while on the cross and how two thieves have different things to say to him while they also are on the cross.

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
            -strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the second book of Samuel, (2 Sam 5:1–3).
Explain:  Much of what happened in the New Testament (which is all about Jesus’ life) was similar to things that happened in the Old Testament. There was a king in the Old Testament who is often compared to Jesus.  He was a humble shepherd boy who became a great king of all of Israel.  Listen to this reading and see if you remember who he was.…

A prepared child/children come and take\ the first reading or second reading.

The first reading is from the old book of 2 Samuel 5:1-3 (RSVCE)

David Anointed King of All Israel

[a]Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and said, “Behold, we are your bone and flesh. In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you that led out and brought in Israel; and the Lord said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’” So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.
 This is the word of the Lord
All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: Who was the king?  <David> When Jesus was born, he was born from Mary, a descendant of King David. He was raised as a carpenter in a little town.  Do you remember anything else about King David?  <the story of David and Goliath- that he defeated enemies who seemed to be a lot stronger than he was>

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

< God is king of all the earth....….>3x.

Introduce the Gospel

Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Luke.  (Lk 23:35-43) This reading from Luke is one that we have heard already during the Lenten season.  It is a reading that clearly tells how Jesus is our leader and our God.  Listen closely to see if you remember the story.

Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR

Welcome the Gospel through a song.
Chorus:
Halle, halle, halle-lu-jah!
Halle, halle, halle-lu-jah! Halle, halle, halle-lu-jah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!!!
Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.

A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke.

Glory to You, O Lord

Luke 23:35-43 (RSVCE)

35 And the people stood by, watching; but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” 36 The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him vinegar, 37 and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38 There was also an inscription over him,[a] “This is the King of the Jews.”
39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingly power.”[b] 43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
  ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the

Gospel reflection:
Ask:  Do you remember the story? When did this story take place?  <at the crucifixion>   People were making fun of Jesus as he was dying on the cross.
Say:  One person believed Jesus.  Do you remember who it was?  <the thief>  What did Jesus promise that person?  <eternal life – or heaven>

Memory Verse:
“Luke 23:43 ( “Jesus said to him, “I promise you that today you will be in Paradise with me.”.”)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-)Intercessions.
You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.

Let us pray to Christ our King together:

Prayer 1. Let us pray for world church leaders: Our Pope Francis, our arch Bishop Cyprian Lwanga, Priests, and all the clergy, that we have known that Jesus Christ is the King of the Universe and He left leaders to help us learn more about Him. May our leaders continue to welcome, love and care for everyone in Spirit as Jesus did – like a shepherd cares for his sheep, to bring peace and happiness. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2. Let us pray for all civil leaders throughout the world: but most especially our leaders here in our country. May the good Lord guide them all and we pray that they may remember the true kingship in Christ Jesus and not be distracted by earthly power and wealth and lead their people with love and respect. pray to the Lord....

Prayer 3. Let us pray for the sick members of our community and for all those who are in need. Heal them and provide to them dear Lord. And for the souls of the departed, Eternal rest grant unto them oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 4. Let us pray for our dear Parents; may our King of Kings continue to bless them in everything they do, especially those that have lost love and want to give up on their children, not to give up. And pray that we(children) also, concentrate on all the good things we have been taught at church, home and School, so that we get a perfect future. We pray to the Lord.....

Prayer 5. And for all of us gathered here, let us pray that we may be open to listen to Jesus Christ the king in our lives, not to command for our rights when things are difficult, but remember that God is with us in the hardest times and may we help and serve each other when things are difficult. May we look for what we can do in Jesus’s name, so He may grant us all we ask of Him because He loves us.
We Pray to the Lord…..

====  7:26 - 7:28 ====

Silently, each one tells God your petition.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, for ever and ever.
Amen
