He's got the whole world in his hand.

He's got you and me, sister, in his hand.

He's got you and me, sister, in his hand.
He's got the whole world in his hand.

He's got everybody here in his hand.
He's got everybody here in his hand.
He's got everybody here in his hand.
He's got the whole world in his hand.

Ask: Last week’s theme was a <Gift”> Following God’s laws is our gift to God.

Welcome; Jesus tells us today that if we do what is good and right, others will see that we believe and will praise God. We can be an example for others, like a light shining to show the way. Let’s think about that light as we listen to the readings.

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of Leviticus. Listen closely so that you can hear some of the ways God tells us to treat each other..
A prepared child/children come and take the first reading or second reading.
First Reading; Leviticus 19:1-2,17-18 (GNT)

Laws of Holiness and Justice.

The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the whole Israelite community and tell them:
Be holy, for I, the LORD, your God, am holy.

"You shall not bear hatred for your brother or sister in your heart.
Though you may have to reprove your fellow citizen, do not incur sin because of him.
Take no revenge and cherish no grudge against any of your people.
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
I am the LORD."

This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: What did you hear in the book of Leviticus?
Help them to answer: <keep yourselves holy, don’t hate anyone, don’t try to get even, don’t hold grudges, love each other>

Say: Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

A light rises in the darkness for the upright.....>3x.

Introduce the Gospel

Say:  Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of St. Matthew. In the New Testament, we often hear how Jesus teaches us some of the same things that are written in the Old Testament.  St. Matthew uses this reading to share with us some of the things that Jesus said for us to do.  Listen closely and try to remember at least one thing Jesus said....

Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with an Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song. J J
Chorus:   (‘Halle, halle, halle’ (Caribbean))
Halle, halle, halle, lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!!

Silently say: Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord
Matthew 5:38-48 (GNT)

Teaching about Revenge.
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But now I tell you: do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek too. 40 And if someone takes you to court to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well. 41 And if one of the occupation troops forces you to carry his pack one mile, carry it two miles. 42 When someone asks you for something, give it to him; when someone wants to borrow something, lend it to him.

Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your friends, hate your enemies.’ 44 But now I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may become the children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil. 46 Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! 47 And if you speak only to your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that! 48 You must be perfect—just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the…

Gospel reflection:

Ask: What happened?  <let the children retell what they heard>  What does he tell us to do?  <share our goodness because it will help others to love God>

Memory Verse: “Matthew 5:48 (You must be perfect—just as your Father in heaven is perfect...”)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
====  7:24 - 7:26 ====
Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-)Intercessions.
You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.

Leader: Jesus asks us to act with love to bring about a hopeful change of heart. Thinking of others around the world we pray together: ...

Prayer 1. Let us pray for the church; Pope Francis, the Arch Bishop Dr. Cyprian Lwanga, Priests, and all the clergy, that as they spread the message of love, as Jesus Christ instructed, they may not get tired but always have the same zeal as before. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer2
Let us pray for all civil leaders throughout the world and our leaders in Uganda, May the good Lord, help them to act with love to bring about a hopeful change of heart, may guide them all to lead their people with love and respect. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 3.
We pray for all people who are
living in the darkness of poverty, fear or
illness: that through our actions, they may feel
love and have hope for a better future. We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 4. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for whom we remember in a special way at this Mass, Eternal rest grant unto them oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 5. And for all of us gathered here, Let us pray for faith and hope, to help us that we may be moved to listen and learn how we can help our neighbours share our Lord’s love to all friends that need our helping hand. We pray to the Lord...

====  7:26 - 7:28 ====
Silently, each one tells God your petition.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, for ever and ever.
Amen
