 Entrance Song
Pilgrims United In Christ
Pilgrims united in Christ to our home,
Firm ahead we strive.
Christ is the way that will lead to our goal,
Now our hopes range high.

Long ago we walked in darkness, now we have the light,
Yes, with faith we search in brightness
Faith in Jesus Christ.

Christ is the truth and the rule of our thought,
As we strive for peace.
Mind then and heart we belong to the Lord
“Truth shall make us free”.

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
Today’s first reading is from the second Old Testament book of Kings. In this reading, prophet Elisha travels to a town to spread the word of God and stops for the night.  There is a rich woman who welcomes him and lets him spend the night.... Listen attentively and hear what happened next.
A prepared child/children come and take the reading.

2 Kings 4:8-11, 14-16 (NRSVCE)

Elisha and the Rich Woman from Shunem

8 One day Elisha was passing through Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to have a meal. So whenever he passed that way, he would stop there for a meal. 9 She said to her husband, “Look, I am sure that this man who regularly passes our way is a holy man of God. 10 Let us make a small roof chamber with walls, and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp, so that he can stay there whenever he comes to us.”

11 One day when he came there, he went up to the chamber and lay down there. “This is the word of the Lord” 14 He said, “What then may be done for her?” Gehazi answered, “Well, she has no son, and her husband is old.” 15 He said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood at the door. 16 He said, “At this season, in due time, you shall embrace a son.” She replied, “No, my lord, O man of God; do not deceive your servant.”
This is the word of the Lord;
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: Did you hear what happened?  The woman was hospitable to Elisha and Elisha was grateful. <Elisha prayed for her to give birth to a son> Can anyone tell me why a son would be a good reward for this woman?  <so that in the woman’s old age, she may have someone to take care of her> So, it was a great thing that Elisha did to repay her kindness.
Have you realized that
Without the woman’s hospitality, Elisha would not have prayed for her? SoGive Love and receive Love..
Say: Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.> 3x

Introducing the Gospel

Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the New Testament book of Matthew. In Matthew’s Gospel today, we hear what Jesus told his disciples about hospitality.  Pretend that you are a child listening to what Jesus is telling the grown-ups and see if you can decide what Jesus' message means to you.

...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!

Yelele yelele Halleluiah. [G]

Chorus:   Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.

1.   Eyende mbele, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.

2.   Moto, moto, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.

The leader reading the gospel, silently says: Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord

Matthew 10:40-42 (NRSVCE)

Rewards

40 “Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41 Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; 42 and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”.
The Gospel of the Lord”

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…

Gospel reflection:
What did Jesus say?  <let the children discuss> Who in your life spreads Jesus’ word?  <parents, teachers, priests, different leaders>  What can you do to show hospitality and gratitude?  <gifts, cards, meals>

Memory Verse: John 10:40
Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. ....
Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
====  7:24 - 7:26 ====

Prayer 3. We pray for our parish, family and friends: that God may encourage us to see that all people are special, no matter whether they are rich or poor, and treat all people with welcome and love.
We pray to the Lord....

Closing prayer: God of all that is good, you make the sun rise across the earth, you breathe wind through the fields, you pour water from the mountains. Move us to change our lives, and bring the power of your love, so that all may flourish. Through Christ our Lord,
