Theme: Bread
Welcome: What does bread symbolize?
(nourishment)
Today the
scripture tells us about another kind of Nourishment that Jesus provides for us.
Ask: What was last week’s theme? <“Bread and Fish.” > Jesus fed 5000 people on 2 fish and loafs of bread. “And what did it stand for? (to remind us that Jesus will
take care of all our needs).”

Entrance Song
I am the Bread of Life
I am the bread of life.
He who comes to me shall
not hunger;
he who believes in me
shall not thirst.
No one can come to me
unless the Father draw
him.

And I will raise him up,
and I will raise him up,
and I will raise him up
on the last day.
The bread that I will
give
is my flesh for the life
of the world,
and he who eats of this
bread,
he shall live for ever,
he shall live for ever.
Refrain.
//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,

THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin

and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.
You were sent to heal the contrite of
heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of
the father to intercede for us.

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
The first reading today is from the
second book of Exodus. (EX 16:2-4. 12-15)
It tells the story about Moses leading the Israelites in the desert and
what happened when they couldn’t find any more food. Listen closely to see if you have heard this
story before.
A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
EX
16:2-4, 12-15(NRSVCE)
2The
whole congregation of the Israelites complained against Moses and Aaron in the
wilderness. 3The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by
the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots and ate
our fill of bread; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill
this whole assembly with hunger.”
4 Then the Lord said
to Moses, “I am going to rain bread from heaven for you, and
each day the people shall go out and gather
enough for that day. In that way I will test them, whether they will follow my
instruction or not.
12 “I have heard the complaining of the Israelites; say to them, ‘At
twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall have your fill of
bread; then you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’”
13 In the evening quails came up and covered the camp; and in the
morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 14 When the layer of dew
lifted, there on the surface of the wilderness was a fine flaky substance, as
fine as frost on the ground. 15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to one
another, “What is it?”[a] For they did not know what it was. Moses said to
them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.
“This is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: Did anyone hear what
happened? <God sent manna from heaven
to feed the Israelites>
Say: Let us now focus
on our responsorial Psalm:
< The Lord gave them bread
from heaven.> x3
Introducing
the Gospel
Say: The Gospel reading was written by the
Apostle John. (JN 6:24-35) John’s Gospel
today tells how Jesus tried to explain the difference between the bread they
received that nourished their bodies and the bread He will provide for them
that will nourish their souls. Listen
closely to hear what John tells us that Jesus said that God wants for us to do.
...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and
welcome the gospel!!
CHORUS: (‘Halle, halle,
halle’ (Caribbean))
Halle, halle, halle, lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we
may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel”.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. John.
Glory to You, O Lord
John 6:24-35 (NRSVCE)
I am the
Bread of Life
24 So
when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they
themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
25 When
they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did
you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, you
are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of
the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the
food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it
is on him that God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said
to him, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” 29 Jesus
answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has
sent.” 30 So they said to him, “What sign are you going to give us
then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? 31
Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them
bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Then Jesus said to them, “Very truly,
I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my
Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of
God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34
They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” 35 Jesus said to
them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and
whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord
Jesus Christ”
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but
according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the
suggestions below…
Gospel
reflection:
Say: Who is the bread of
Life Jesus Christ talked about? <He
Himself>but you let children give their answer.
What kind of food God gave in the wilderness?
<Manna> Jesus fulfilled what
God did in His prophets in the old testament.
Memory
Verse: John 6:35
35 Jesus
said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be
hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty…”.
Let us stand up and we profess our
faith.
Profession of our faith
I
believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator
of heaven and earth:
And
in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who
was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered
under Pontius Pilate;
was
crucified, died and was buried:
He
descended into hell:
The
third day he rose again from the dead:
He
ascended into heaven,
and
sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From
there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I
believe in the Holy Spirit:
the
holy catholic church:
the
communion of saints:
The
forgiveness of sins:
The
resurrection of the body:
And
the life everlasting.
Amen.
