- Liturgy of the Word
- Introduction of the first reading.
- Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah tells the people (and us!) that God sent him to tell others about God. The Israelites who listened to Isaiah were not happy. Many were slaves and they often did not have enough to eat. Lets listen to the words of Isaiah.
- A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
- Isaiah 61:1-2 (GNT)
- The Good News of Deliverance
- 61 The Sovereign Lord has filled me with his Spirit. He has chosen me and sent me
- To bring good news to the poor, To heal the broken-hearted, To announce release to captives, And freedom to those in prison.
- 2 He has sent me to proclaim
- That the time has come
- When the Lord will save his people
- And defeat their enemies.
- He has sent me to comfort all who mourn,
- The Lord himself has promised this.”
- This is the word of the Lord;
- All say “Thanks be to God”.
- Ask: How did Isaiah’s words make you feel? <discuss>
- What did you hear that was important to you?
- Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
- < My soul rejoices in the Lord..…> 3x
- Introducing the Gospel
- Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of the Apostle John. When John the Baptist talked to the people and baptized them, many people followed him. There had been many prophets before John (like who? Isaiah). The Israelites had been waiting a long time for the Lord to come to save them. So many people liked John that many of them thought he might be the one they were waiting forh. Listen to what he tells them.
- ...with Alleluia!! –
- We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!
- Welcoming the Gospel;

- The Leader starts:
- -The Lord be with You,
- -And with your Spirit.
- A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. John.
- Glory to You, O Lord
- John 1:6-8, 19-28 (GNT)
- Light of the World.
- 6 God sent his messenger, a man named John, 7 who came to tell people about the light, so that all should hear the message and believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came to tell about the light.
- John the Baptist's Message
- 19 The Jewish authorities in Jerusalem sent some priests and Levites to John to ask him, “Who are you?”
- 20 John did not refuse to answer, but spoke out openly and clearly, saying: “I am not the Messiah.”
- 21 “Who are you, then?” they asked. “Are you Elijah?”
- “No, I am not,” John answered.
- “Are you the Prophet?”[a] they asked.
- “No,” he replied.
- 22 “Then tell us who you are,” they said. “We have to take an answer back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
- 23 John answered by quoting the prophet Isaiah:“I am ‘the voice of someone shouting in the desert:
- Make a straight path for the Lord to travel!’”
- 24 The messengers, who had been sent by the Pharisees, 25 then asked John, “If you are not the Messiah nor Elijah nor the Prophet, why do you baptize?”
- 26 John answered, “I baptize with water, but among you, stands the one you do not know. 27 He is coming after me, but I am not good enough even to untie his sandals.” 28 All this happened in Bethany on the east side of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.
- “The Gospel of the Lord”
- All say “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”.

Liturgy of the Word
Introduction of the first reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of the prophet Isaiah. Many years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah talked about preparing the way for the Lord. Listen to the words of Isaiah and try to think of what it might mean in your life........
A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
Isaiah 40:3-5(GNT) A part.
3 A voice cries out,
“Prepare in the wilderness a road for the Lord! Clear the way in the desert for our God! 4 Fill every valley; level every mountain. The hills will become a plain,
and the rough country will be made smooth.
5 Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
and all people will see it.
The Lord himself has promised this.”
This is the word of the Lord;
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: What does this reading mean to you?
< Discuss> how they might “flatten mountains” or “level rough roads” Tell them; by doing good things for others. That’s all God expects of us.
Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Lord, show us your mercy and love, and grant us your salvation.…> 3x
Introducing the Gospel
Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Mark. During the time when Jesus was alive, most people were used to hearing the words of the prophet Isaiah. This reading in the New Testament begins with the words of Isaiah that you just heard. Then we hear about prophet John, known as the Baptist. John came to tell about someone who was coming. Listen to John’s words and see if you can understand who John is talking about.
...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!

Glory to You, O Lord
Mark 1:1-8 (GNT)
The Preaching of John the Baptist.
1 This is the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2 It began as the prophet Isaiah had written:
“God said, ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you
to open the way for you.’
3 Someone is shouting in the desert,
‘Get the road ready for the Lord;
make a straight path for him to travel!’”
4 So John appeared in the desert, baptizing and preaching. “Turn away from your sins and be baptized,” he told the people, “and God will forgive your sins.” 5 Many people from the province of Judea and the city of Jerusalem went out to hear John. They confessed their sins, and he baptized them in the Jordan River.
6 John wore clothes made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. 7 He announced to the people, “The man who will come after me is much greater than I am. I am not good enough even to bend down and untie his sandals. 8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
“The Gospel of the Lord”
All say “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”.
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and at children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…
Gospel reflection:
Ask: Do you know who John was talking about? <Jesus> Does anyone remember how John was described in the Gospel reading? <clothes of camel’s hair, leather strap around his waist, ate grasshoppers> If you were a person in the crowd, do you think you would have figured out what he was talking about? Do you even think you would have listened to such a man? <maybe –OR-- maybe not>
Memory Verse:
“Matthew 1:8 “…. <“ I baptize you with water, but Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit...”>...”x3

Liturgy of the Word
Introduction of the first reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthian people. In this reading, St Paul talks about how grateful he is that Jesus came to earth to be with us. Pretend that you are a child who lived in the city of Corinth.......
A prepared child/children come and take the reading. It’s the 2nd reading.
1 Corinthians 1:3-9 (GNT)
3 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
Blessings in Christ
4 I always give thanks to my God for you because of the grace he has given you through Christ Jesus. 5 For in union with Christ you have become rich in all things, including all speech and all knowledge. 6 The message about Christ has become so firmly established in you 7 that you have not failed to receive a single blessing, as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be faultless on the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is to be trusted, the God who called you to have fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.
This is the word of the Lord;
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: What did you hear? Discuss. God will take care of us until Jesus returns to earth.
Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Give peace, O Lord, to those who wait for you.…> 3x
Introducing the Gospel
Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the New Testament book of Mark. In this reading, Jesus is talking to his disciples. He compares his coming back to earth with another situation. He compares it to a man leaving his house and putting his servants in charge who also doesn’t tell them when he is coming back. Listen to Jesus’ words as if you were one of his disciples. What do you think Jesus trying to tell the disciples?

Glory to You, O Lord
Mark 13:33-37 (GNT)
33 Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come. 34 It will be like a man who goes away from home on a trip and leaves his servants in charge, after giving to each one his own work to do and after telling the doorkeeper to keep watch. 35 Watch, then, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming—it might be in the evening or at midnight or before dawn or at sunrise. 36 If he comes suddenly, he must not find you asleep. 37 What I say to you, then, I say to all: Watch!”
“The Gospel of the Lord”
All say “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”.

We want to try to be closer to God by being the best people we know how to be.

==== 7:00 - 7:03 ====
Welcome: Today our Theme looks a little like coins – but on them, they have a word TALENT. In biblical times, there were coins, money, that was called TALENT. But we have another meaning for the word “talent”. Can anyone tell me what the word means today? <a skill, something you know how to do well> so we must make the best use of the talents we have got.

All that I am, all that I do,
All that I'll ever have, I offer now to you.
All that I dream, all that I pray,
All that I'll ever make, I give to you today.
Take and sanctify these gifts
For your honor, Lord.
Knowing that I love and serve you
Is enough reward.
All that I am, all that I do,
All that I'll ever have I offer now to you.
Take and sanctify these gifts
For your honour, Lord.
Knowing that I love and serve you
Is enough reward.
All that I dream, all that I pray,
All that I'll ever make, I give to you today.
Ask: What was last week’s theme? “Lamp Oil We talked about being wise/ready like the five wise girls that had oil when the bride groom arrived. Does anyone remember how to be ready? <always be good and do what God wants us to do>.
//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Oh Lord Have Mercy
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.3
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting? AMEN.

Liturgy of the Word
Introduction of the first reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the first letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians. When St. Paul wrote his letters to the people in the early church, he often wrote about the end of the world. There is a lot in Scripture about the end of the world. Does anyone know exactly what will happen at the end of the world? <NO!!!> We know that Jesus will come back and we know that we will be judged on our behavior......
A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 (GNT)
Be Ready for the Lord's Coming
5 There is no need to write you, friends, about the times and occasions when these things will happen. 2 For you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord will come as a thief comes at night. 3 When people say, “Everything is quiet and safe,” then suddenly destruction will hit them! It will come as suddenly as the pains that come upon a woman in labor, and people will not escape. 4 But you, friends, are not in the darkness, and the Day should not take you by surprise like a thief. 5 All of you are people who belong to the light, who belong to the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, we should not be sleeping like the others; we should be awake and sober.
This is the word of the Lord;
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: What does St. Paul say about the end of the world? <it will come quickly, like a thief in the night> He says that we will be surprised. So what does that mean to us? <let the children respond>
Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< The Lord is my light and my salvation.......…> 3x
Introducing the Gospel
Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Matthew. He tells us about a man who has several servants. Can anyone tell me what a servant is? <somebody who does some work for you> This man decided to take a trip and he called three servants together and put each of them in charge of something. Listen to the parable and see what the servants do...…
...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!
Welcoming the Gospel;
You are welcome Lord of Lords,
You are welcome King of Kings
You are welcome Lord of Hosts
You are welcome Prince of Peace..
You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,
Alle..lluia Might God!!!
The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel”.
The Leader starts:
-The Lord be with You,
-And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord
Pls note it’s a shorter version taken.
Matthew 25:14-15 (GNT)
The Parable of the Three Servants
14 “At that time the Kingdom of heaven will be like this. Once there was a man who was about to leave home on a trip; he called his servants and put them in charge of his property. 15 He gave to each one according to his ability: to one he gave five thousand gold coins, to another he gave two thousand, and to another he gave one thousand. Then he left on his trip.
19 “After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them. 20 The servant who had received five thousand coins came in and handed over the other five thousand. ‘You gave me five thousand coins, sir,’ he said. ‘Look! Here are another five thousand that I have earned.’ 21 ‘Well done, you good and faithful servant!’ said his master. ‘You have been faithful in managing small amounts, so I will put you in charge of large amounts. Come on in and share my happiness!’
“The Gospel of the Lord”
All say “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”.
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and at children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…
Gospel reflection:
Ask: What happened? <the servant doubled the man’s money> Why is that good? <because the servant showed he was trustworthy (by not losing the money) and he showed that he was really working for the man (by increasing his money)>.
Say: What do you think that God has put you in charge of? <your skills – things that you can do well with your mind and with your body> What are some of the things that you can do well? <draw, read, play football and etc> How can you use your talents to make the world a better place? <let the children respond – some ideas are to draw a picture to cheer someone up, read a story to someone younger, run errands for an older person, etc.>
Memory Verse:
“Matthew 25:21 “…. <“ Well done, you good and faithful servant!’ said his master.”>...”x3
Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful . Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-) Intercessions.

We pray to the Lord...

We pray to the Lord....
Prayer 3. We pray for our parish, family and friends: that we may not hide our talents away, but instead use them to help others, especially people who are poor...
We pray to the Lord...
Prayer 4. Generous God, you gave us a voice. Help us shout loud for what is right and fair. You gave us ears. Help us listen to those in need. You gave us talents. Help us share and multiply them for the good of all your people.... We pray to the Lord...
==== 7:26 - 7:28 ====
Silently, each one tells God their petition.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen
