Entrance Song
Make me a charnel of your peace.
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love;
where there is injury, your pardon, Lord;
and where there's doubt, true faith in you.
Refrain:
O Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love with all my soul.
Ask: Does anyone remember the theme for last week? < FISH> We talked about how Jesus calls each one of us and we must be ready to answer the call...to be fishers of men.
Welcome; Today we hear about how Jesus went onto a mountain and taught his disciples. Jesus told them about the kind of person that makes him happy and who is blessed. Some of what he said might be surprising, so let’s think about it together today

Penitential Rite
Dear
little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so
prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and
sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what
I have failed to do
-strike
the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary
Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and
sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede
for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins
and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading
is from the Old Testament book of the prophet
Zephaniah. Zephaniah tells us to be humble. What do you
think that means? <to put others before yourself>
A prepared child/children come and take the first reading or
second reading.
Zephaniah 2:3; 3:12-13
3. Turn
to the Lord, all you humble people of the land, who obey his commands. Do what
is right, and humble yourselves before the Lord. Perhaps you will escape
punishment on the day when the Lord shows his anger.
Zephaniah
3:12-13(GNT)
12 I
will leave there a humble and lowly people, who will come to me for help. 13
The people of Israel who survive will do no wrong to anyone, tell no lies, nor
try to deceive. They will be prosperous and secure, afraid of no one.”
“This is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”
Being humble means
thinking of other people first, worrying about how others are instead of how we
are, making sure other people have what they need before making sure we have
what we need.J
Ask: Do you think that it is easy for us to be humble? Why or why not? <discuss>
Say: Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm
< Blessed are the poor in spirit; the kingdom of heaven is theirs.....>3x.
Introduce the Gospel
Today’s
Gospel reading is taken from the book of St. Matthew. It tells us about a
special talk that Jesus gave on a mountainside—called “the Sermon on
the Mount”. During this talk, He said something we call the
“Beatitudes”. The Beatitudes tell about God’s feelings toward people
who suffer while they are on earth. Listen closely and try to remember one
thing that Jesus says to you..
Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with an Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song.
Chorus:
-Hallelujah,
Hallelujah!
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah!
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah!
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!
-Moto
Moto, Hallelujah…..
-Twende mbeere Hallelujah..
Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord
Matthew 5:1-12(GNT)
Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount
5 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and
sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes
He said:
3 ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 ‘Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you..
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared
interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding
like in the…
Gospel reflection:
Ask: What did you hear? Did you hear anything new or that surprised you? <discuss> Which Beatitude do you think you might want to work on?
Memory Verse: “Matthew 5:3 (“…‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven..”)
Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe
in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of
heaven and earth:
And in
Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who was
conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of
the Virgin Mary:
Suffered
under Pontius Pilate;
was
crucified, died and was buried:
He descended
into hell:
The third
day he rose again from the dead:
He
ascended into heaven,
and sits
at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there
He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe
in the Holy Spirit:
the holy
catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The
resurrection of the body:
And the
life everlasting. Amen.
