Preparing the worship space
Theme: Dove representing the Holy Spirit.
Theme Colour: Ordinary time, Green

        ====  7:00 - 7:03 ====
Today begins the season of Ordinary Time.  What is the liturgical color we usually use in Ordinary Time?  <green>  This segment of Ordinary Time is very short—just a few weeks.  Then we will begin the season of Lent.
 Entrance Song
The Spirit of the leaving God:
O Holy Spirit!
Work in me,
Won't you make me more like Jesus?

O Holy Spirit!
Form in me
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness!

Goodness, faithfulness, oh yes -
Gentleness and self-control...

Ask: Does anyone remember the theme for last week?  < The three wise Men from Orient, brought gifts for baby Jesus…> We too thought about gifts to offer baby Jesus.

Welcome; Today we hear how something special happened to Jesus after his baptism. The Holy Spirit came down and rested on Him. We are going to think about the Holy Spirit and how it can help us to do what is right.

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of Isaiah 49:3,5-6  Isaiah told us all about Jesus many years before he was actually born. Listen to exactly what Isaiah says and see if you can figure out who “Israel” is.

A prepared child/children come and take the first reading or second reading.
Isaiah 49:3,5-6 (NRSVCE)

3 And he said to me, “You are my servant,
Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
5 And now the Lord says,

who formed me in the womb to be his servant,
to bring Jacob back to him,

and that Israel might be gathered to him,
for I am honored in the sight of the Lord,

and my God has become my strength—
he says, “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob

and to restore the survivors of Israel;
I will give you as a light to the nations,

that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: What does God want Israel to do?  <lead others to God, be a light to for others, take God’s power to others>  Who do you think Israel is?<all of us>

Say: Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

Here I am Lord; I come to do your will!...>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of John 1:29-34. This reading is St. John’s version of the Baptism of Jesus.

Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song
Chorus:
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!

Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord

John 1:29-34 (NRSVCE)

The Lamb of God
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him; but I came baptizing with water for this reason, that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32 And John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. 33 I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”[a]
 The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the…
Gospel reflection:

John tells us how in his vision, he saw the Holy Spirit come like a dove to rest on Jesus. When it happened, John believed that Jesus was the Son of God.

A dove is one way that the Spirit shows itself, but most of the time the Spirit is invisible. The Trinity appeared at Jesus’ baptism, and that Jesus will baptize with the Holy Spirit>  What does that mean?  <that Jesus brings a new meaning and strength to Baptism>.

Memory Verse: “John 1:29 (“…Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
