Entrance Song

To God be the glory, great things He hath done,

So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,

Who yielded His life our redemption to win,

And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Chorus Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the earth hear His voice;

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the people rejoice;

Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,

And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.

Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,

To every believer the promise of God;

The vilest offender who truly believes,

That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Liturgy of the Word

Introduce the first reading.

Say: Today’s first reading is again from the Acts of the Apostles. (Acts 9:26-28) It tells about how a man named Saul became a follower of Jesus. Saul was a Roman soldier who followed his orders to chase after and kill the people who followed Jesus.  God spoke to Saul and changed his name.  Does anyone know what his new name was?  <Paul> Listen to the reading and think about how you might feel about the new Christian, Saul.

A prepared child/children come and take the reading.

First Reading is from the book of

Acts 9:26-31 (GNT)

Saul in Jerusalem

26 Saul went to Jerusalem and tried to join the disciples. But they would not believe that he was a disciple, and they were all afraid of him. 27 Then Barnabas came to his help and took him to the apostles. He explained to them how Saul had seen the Lord on the road and that the Lord had spoken to him. He also told them how boldly Saul had preached in the name of Jesus in Damascus. 28 And so Saul stayed with them and went all over Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 He also talked and disputed with the Greek-speaking Jews, but they tried to kill him. 30 When the believers found out about this, they took Saul to Caesarea and sent him away to Tarsus.

31 And so it was that the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had a time of peace. Through the help of the Holy Spirit it was strengthened and grew in numbers, as it lived in reverence for the Lord..”

 “This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: How do you think you might feel about Saul?  <afraid, not trust him, etc.>  Barnabas listened to God and believed in Saul.  Barnabas believed even though it didn’t make sense to him…

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

< I will praise you, Lord, in the assembly of your people....>3x

Introduce the Gospel

Say:  Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of John. (John 15:1-5, 7-8).

The reading today is a parable. Does anyone remember what a parable is? <a teaching story with a hidden meaning> Jesus compares himself to a vine and us to branches. He reminds us how important it is that we work hard to keep following him..

...with Alleluia!! –

We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!

Alle-lu Alle-lu, Alle-lu Alle-lluia!!

Lets praise the Lord….

Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia!!,

Lets praise the Lord….

Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord!

Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord!

Alle..lluia Lets praise the Lord….!!!

The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel”.

The Leader starts:

The Lord be with You,

And with your Spirit.

Leader: A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. John.

Glory to You, O Lord

John 15:1-5, 7-8 (CSB)

Jesus the Real Vine

 “I am the real vine, and my Father is the gardener. He breaks off every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and he prunes every branch that does bear fruit, so that it will be clean and bear more fruit. You have been made clean already by the teaching I have given you. Remain united to me, and I will remain united to you. A branch cannot bear fruit by itself; it can do so only if it remains in the vine. In the same way you cannot bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it. My Father's glory is shown by your bearing much fruit; and in this way you become my disciples..

”The Gospel of the Lord”

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”

====  7:19 - 7:24 ====

(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…

Gospel reflection:

Ask: Why is it important for us to keep following Jesus?  <to stay good, to lead good lives, to get to heaven>  Is it hard to follow Jesus?  <sometimes> Sometimes it’s just hard to remember to keep praying or to think about Jesus.  When we get busy going to school or playing, we sometimes forget that Jesus is there with us.  Let’s try this week to think of Jesus a little bit more than usual.

Memory Verse:  John 15:7 “..,<7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it..>

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Trust And Obey Hymn

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,

But His smile quickly drives it away;

Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,

Can abide while we trust and obey.

Ask: What was last week’s theme

 <“Bible”> <Its a book of stories and letters given to us with God’s help>. When we have questions, the bible helps to us get answers.

Welcome:

Today we are going to hear Jesus tell a story. He calls himself the good shepherd, who cares for his sheep. This story shows us that Jesus knows and cares for all people. Let’s think about how we can care for all people too, no matter where they are in the world.

Liturgy of the Word

Introduce the first reading.

Say: Today’s first reading is from the New Testament book of Acts. (Acts 4:8-12)  In this reading, we will hear about the special cornerstone.  This story compares Jesus, who looked and acted different than the people of His time, to the cornerstone that got thrown away.  While you listen, think of what this might mean in your life.

A prepared child/children come and take the reading.

First Reading is from the book of

Acts 4:8-12 (GNT)

8 Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders:[a] 9 If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man, by what means he was healed, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing here before you healthy. 11 This Jesus is

the stone rejected by you builders,

which has become the cornerstone.[b]

12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”

 “This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: What do you think that the reading might mean to you in your life?  <that all of us, with all our differences, are important in the church> Someone that you don’t think is important might have the best contribution of all.

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

< The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone...>3x

Introduce the Gospel

Say:  Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of John.  (John 10:11-16).  In this reading from the Gospel of John, we hear a parable. This parable is about a good shepherd, who knows each and every one of his sheep.  While you listen, see if you can figure out who the sheep represent.

John 10:11-16 (CSB)

11 “I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep. 12 When the hired man, who is not a shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees a wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away; so the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hired man runs away because he is only a hired man and does not care about the sheep. 14-15 I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing to die for them. 16 There are other sheep which belong to me that are not in this sheep pen. I must bring them, too; they will listen to my voice, and they will become[a] one flock with one shepherd.

Ask: Does anyone know the sign to show that there is God’s peace between us?

Say:  Let’s give each other a sign of peace.

Ask:  Who do you think the sheep are? <US!>  The story tells us that the shepherd would lay down His life for His sheep, even the sheep who don’t know Him yet.

Memory Verse:  John 10:14-15 “..,<14-15 I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing to die for them.>
