Entrance Song

BIND US TOGETHER, Lord, Bind us together

With cords that cannot be broken.

Bind us together, Lord,

Bind us together,

Bind us together with love.

There is only one God,

There is only one King;

There is only one Body,

That is why we sing:

Refrain

Made for the glory of God,

Purchased by His precious Son;

Born with the right to be clean,

For Jesus the victory has won.

Ask: What was last week’s theme

Penitential Rite

Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

Confession of our sins

I confess to the Almighty God,

and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned

in my thoughts and in my words

in what I have done and In what I have failed to do

-strike the breast 3 times as you say-

through my fault

through my fault

through my most grievous fault

THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin

all the Angels and Saints

and you, my brothers and sisters

to pray for me to the Lord our God…

Have Mercy on us oh Lord

For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy

And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.

Lord have Mercy

Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners

Christ have mercy

Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.

Lord have mercy.

Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?

AMEN

Liturgy of the Word

Introduce the first reading.

Say: Today’s first reading is from the Acts of the Apostles. (Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48) It will tell us how everyone can receive the Holy Spirit.  At that time, people believed that only the Jews were God’s chosen people.  They had a lot of difficulty understanding that Jesus’ message was for all people..

A prepared child/children come and take the reading.

First Reading is from the book of

Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48 (GNT)

25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell at his feet, and worshiped him.

26 But Peter lifted him up and said, “Stand up. I myself am also a man.”

Good News for Gentiles

34 Peter began to speak: “Now I truly understand that God doesn’t show favoritism, 35 but in every nation the person who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.

Gentile Conversion and Baptism

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came down on all those who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were amazed because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in other tongues[a] and declaring the greatness of God.

Then Peter responded, 47 “Can anyone withhold water and prevent these people from being baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.

“This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: Did Jesus come for Jews only? <No> <Jesus came for Gentiles as well as Jews>

Let’s do a little activity. I want you think for just a minute – no talking out loud.  Think in your mind of a person you really don’t like.  Don’t say their name – just put their name in your mind. The message in this reading is that the person you are thinking of is God’s special child just like you are. Jesus died and rose for that person too. Is that hard to remember? <.>

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

< The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power.....>3x

Introduce the Gospel

Say:  Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of St. John.  (John 15:9-14).  This reading tells us about a time that Jesus was talking to his friends about love.  Listen closely and see if you hear something special for us to learn.

...with Alleluia!! –

We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!

Alle-lu Alle-lu, Alle-lu Alle-lluia!!

Lets praise the Lord….

Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia!!,

Lets praise the Lord….

Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord!

Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord!

Alle..lluia Lets praise the Lord….!!!

The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel”.

The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,

And with your Spirit.

A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. John.

Glory to You, O Lord

John 15:9-17 (CSB)

Christ like Love

9 “As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in His love.

11 “I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.

12 “This is my command: Love one another as I have loved you. 13 No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master[a] is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

17 “This is what I command you: Love one another.

.The Gospel of the Lord”

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”

====  7:19 - 7:24 ====

(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…

Gospel reflection:

Ask: What did you hear Jesus say?  <that we need to love each other the same way that He loves us> Wow!  Do you think that this will be easy? <sometimes>

Who do you love most? <Discuss> Now think of the person you thought of earlier.  This is the person that Jesus asks you to love the way that Jesus loves you.

Memory Verse:  John 15:17 “..,<17 “This is what I command you: Love one another...>

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith

I believe in God the Father, Almighty,

creator of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:

         --bow down--

Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:

Suffered under Pontius Pilate;

was crucified, died and was buried:

He descended into hell:

The third day he rose again from the dead:

He ascended into heaven,

and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:

I believe in the Holy Spirit:

the holy catholic church:

the communion of saints:

The forgiveness of sins:

The resurrection of the body:

And the life everlasting.

Amen.

====  7:24 - 7:26 ====
