Read your bible, and pray everyday, if you want to grow….
Welcome;
Ask: Does anyone remember what our theme was for last Sunday? (flower and seed)  And what did it symbolize? (it symbolized the FAITH given to us by God that we have to nourish and take care of so that it will grow)
ExplainToday is the Twenty-second Sunday of Ordinary Time.
Explain: In order to try and understand what Jesus had to say, we must pay attention to His word and the bible is where we find it.

Explain:  We have been talking about the new way of thinking that Jesus had been telling people about.  The things He had to say sounded really strange to the people who were listening.  It didn’t seem to make much sense.  Many people left Him.  Some tried to trick Him.  Today’s Gospel is about one of those times.
//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading
A prepared child comes to takes the first reading or second reading..
Say: The first reading is from the book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament, or Hebrew Scriptures. (Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-8)  It tells about what Moses said about the laws that God gave the Israelites.  Does anyone remember what we call the laws that God gave Moses?  <the Commandments>  Can anyone tell us one of the Commandments?
Moses reminded the Israelites that they had <as we have> a special God who is very close to us and tells us exactly how to be close to Him.

The first reading today is taken from the letter of Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-8International Children’s Bible (ICB)

Moses Tells Israel to Obey

Now, Israel, listen to the laws and commands I will teach you. Obey them so you will live. Then you will go over and take the land. The Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving it to you. Don’t add to these commands. And don’t leave anything out. But obey the commands of the Lord your God that I give you. Obey these laws carefully. This will show the other nations that you have wisdom and understanding. They will hear about these laws. And they will say, “This great nation of Israel is wise and understanding.” No other nation is as great as we are. Their gods do not come near them. But the Lord our God comes near when we pray to him. And no other nation has such good teachings and commands. I am giving them to you today.
This is the word of the Lord
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< One who does justice, will live in the presence of the Lord.....> Repeat 3x.
In today’s Gospel Reading, we are going to hear how the Pharisees and the teachers of the law said to Jesus, “Your followers don’t follow the rules given to us by our great people who lived before us. Your followers eat their food with hands that are not clean.  And they asked Jesus, Why do they do this?”
Please listen carefully but first, we welcome the gospel.

Welcoming the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! -
Welcoming the Gospel
Chorus:    Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
1.    Eyende mbele, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
 2.   Moto, moto, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah
Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim3 your Holy Gospel.

We are going to do something that everyone does in the big church Lord, let your Word be in my mind <make a cross on forehead>, on my lips <make a cross on lips>, and in my heart <make a cross on the left side of the chest>

The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit.
The Gospel Reading was written by Mark..

Mark 7:14-15,21-23 International Children’s Bible (ICB)

14 Jesus called the people to him again. He said, “Every person should listen to me and understand what I am saying. 15 There is nothing a person puts into his body that makes him unclean. A person is made unclean by the things that come out of him.
21 All these evil things begin inside a person, in the mind: evil thoughts, sexual immorality, stealing, murder, adultery, 22 selfishness, doing bad things to other people, lying, doing sinful things, jealousy, saying bad things about people, pride, and foolish living. 23 All these evil things come from within a person. These things make a person unclean.”

.The Gospel of the Lord”
“Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ”
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
   ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
Ask:  Does anyone here ever get in trouble for not following certain rules?  Like maybe... talking with your mouth full?  Or forgetting to wash your hands before you come to the table?  What are some other examples?  Here is my question: Does this make you a bad person?  or perhaps just a forgetful one?
Explain:  The people who were listening to Jesus didn’t understand why His disciples didn’t all follow the same customs that the Jews did.  The Jews felt that everyone needed to follow these customs in order to please God.  Jesus replied that customs do not make a person good or bad. Their behavior, what they do and why they do it, is what God will use to judge them.

Let us stand up to profess our faith
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
                  --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the leaving  and the
dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
