Welcome;
Today we hear about how Jesus asks a rich young man to sell his nice things and to give all his money to people who are poor. What do you think the rich man did? Let’s find out…

ExplainToday is the Twenty-eighth Sunday of Ordinary Time.
Ask:  Does anyone remember what our theme was for last Sunday? ( hearts joined together) And what did it mean?  <last week’s theme stood for the love in our families>
Say:  Today’s readings are about treasure.
Ask:  What is a treasure?  <gold, silver, jewels>  What is the word we use to describe someone who owns a treasure?  <rich>  Who wants a treasure?  <everybody>  Wh                                                                                                       \y do you think everybody wants treasure?     Is there anything that is not good about owning a lot of treasure or money?  <you have to spend a lot of time thinking about it, worrying about keeping it and figuring out what to do with it>

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament, the book of Wisdom.
Explain: First of all, does anybody know what the word WISDOM means?  <Knowledge, being able to understand> this reading compares wisdom to Treasure.  Let’s see if we can understand what that might mean.
A prepared child comes and takes the first reading or second reading.

The first reading today is taken from the letter of Wisdom 7:7-11Revised Standard Version (RSV)

Solomon’s Respect for Wisdom

Therefore I prayed, and understanding was given me; I called upon God, and the spirit of wisdom came to me.
I preferred her to scepters and thrones,
and I accounted wealth as nothing in comparison with her.
Neither did I liken to her any priceless gem, because all gold is but a little sand in her sight,
and silver will be accounted as clay before her.
10 I loved her more than health and beauty,
and I chose to have her rather than light,
because her radiance never ceases.
11 All good things came to me along with her, and in her hands uncounted wealth.
This is the word of the Lord
All say “Thanks be to God”.

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Fill us with your love, O Lord, and we will sing for joy!...>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
Say:  The Gospel selection today is from the book of Mark. (Mark 10:17-27).  Mark tells us a story about a rich young man who came to Jesus.  He asked Jesus what he needed to do to get into the kingdom of heaven.  Let’s pretend that we are the people around Jesus who are listening and learning and hear what he tells this good young man.
 Welcoming the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! - OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song.
Chorus:
Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
1.    Eyende mbele, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
2.   Moto, moto, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah
Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit.

The Gospel Reading was written by Mark 10:17-27 (full reading Mark 10:17-27) International Children’s Bible (ICB)
Let Lord’s Word be in my mind <make a cross on forehead>, and on my lips <make a cross on lips>, and in my heart <make a cross on the left side of the chest>         OR
Glory to You Lord Jesus Christ

Mark 10:17-27Common English Bible (CEB)

A rich man’s question

17 As Jesus continued down the road, a man ran up, knelt before him, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to obtain eternal life?”
18 Jesus replied, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except the one God. 19  You know the commandments: Don’t commit murder. Don’t commit adultery. Don’t steal. Don’t give false testimony. Don’t cheat. Honor your father and mother.”[a]
20 “Teacher,” he responded, “I’ve kept all of these things since I was a boy.”
21 Jesus looked at him carefully and loved him. He said, “You are lacking one thing. Go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.” 22 But the man was dismayed at this statement and went away saddened, because he had many possessions.
23 Looking around, Jesus said to his disciples, “It will be very hard for the wealthy to enter God’s kingdom!” 24 His words startled the disciples, so Jesus told them again, “Children, it’s difficult to enter God’s kingdom! 25  It’s easier for a camel to squeeze through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter God’s kingdom.”
26 They were shocked even more and said to each other, “Then who can be saved?”
27 Jesus looked at them carefully and said, “It’s impossible with human beings, but not with God. All things are possible for God.”
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ”
  ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the
Gospel reflection:
Ask:  What did Jesus say? <He told the young man to give away all his money>  The young man went away very sad.  Why do you think that was?
Why do you think that Jesus said that it was hard for rich people to get into heaven?  <if you are rich, you spend a lot of time taking care of your riches.  God wants us to trust in him and give our time and thought to him>  Are there other things in our lives (besides money) that take up our time and thought and get in the way of trusting in God?  <being worried, being angry, thinking a lot about ourselves)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
                  --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the leaving  and the
dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-)Intercessions.
You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.
It is sometimes hard to do what Jesus asks of us, and so we pray together for the courage and strength to share:

Prayer 1. We pray for world leaders: that they may look for ways to make sure all their people, especially those who are poor, can have their fair share.
We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2 .  We pray for our parish, families and friends: that we may have the strength to answer Jesus’s call and share all that we have, so that the world may be a fairer place for everyone.
We pray to the Lord..

Prayer 3. . Generous God, we thank you for all the gifts that you have given us. Teach us to share these gifts with others, so all people may have a good time.
We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 4 And for all of us gathered here, May our good God, give us Wisdom like the one He gave to King Solomon, so that we are able to exercise good judgement in our everyday life. We pray to the Lord...

====  7:26 - 7:28 ====

Silently, each one tell God your petition.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, for ever and ever.
Amen
