Entrance Song

While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night…

While shepherds watched
Their flocks by night
All seated on the ground
The angel of the Lord came down
And glory shone around
And glory shone around

"Fear not," he said,
For mighty dread
Had seized their troubled minds
"Glad tidings of great joy I bring
To you and all mankind,
To you and all mankind."....

Ask: Does anyone remember the theme for last week?  < A star- representing Baby Jesus the star/light of the world born to us on Christmas day…>

Welcome; Today is about how the shepherds visited Jesus after He was born and we celebrate Mary, His mother, obeyed God and she listened to all shepherds had to say about how special her son was. Let’s think about those shepherds and Mary today;
How was everyone’s Christmas?  <let the children tell a little about their holiday :->

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
            -strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of Numbers. (Num 6:22-27)   Today we hear something that God told Moses to tell his brother to do.  Let’s listen to what is said and see if we can think of why this reading might tell us something about Mary mother of God….

A prepared child/children come and take the first reading or second reading.

The first reading is from the old book of Numbers 6:22-27(NRSVCE)

The Priestly Benediction
22 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them,
24 The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.
27 So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.

This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: What did God say?  <let the children retell a little>  Say: He talked about blessing people and He said that if we speak His name (or tell others about Him) God will bless us.  Why would this make us think of Mary?  <Mary’s YES! tells everyone about God and her faith in him>

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

May God bless us in his mercy.!...>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Luke 2:16-21. In the reading today, we hear about the shepherds coming to see the baby.  Listen to see if you can hear how Mary mother of God felt.

Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song
Chorus:
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!

Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord

Luke 2:16-21 (NRSVCE)

16 So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. 17 When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them.19 But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

Jesus Is Named

21 After eight days had passed, it was time to circumcise the child; and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
 The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the…
Gospel reflection:

Ask:  What happened?  <let the children retell what they heard>  Then ask, How do you think Mary felt?  <confused, scared, proud>

Say:  Mary was just like us.  This is something that would be hard to understand if it happened to us.  But Mary accepted.  Mary praised God.  Mary waited and did what God asked her to do.  We should try to be like Mary the mother of our Lord.

Memory Verse: “Luke 2:14 (20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them....”)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
