Entrance Song
Away in a Manger
Away
in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The
little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The
stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The
little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.
The
cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But
little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love
Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And
stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Be
near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close
by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless
all the dear children in thy tender care,
And
take us to heaven, to live with Thee there..
Ask: Does anyone
remember the theme for last week? < babies - an
angel appeared to Joseph to tell him what a
special baby Jesus would be. >
Welcome; Today is a very special day too.
It is Christmas day! when we
celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Even though He was the Son of
God, Jesus was born in a stable and laid in a manger, not in a big palace or
soft bed. Let’s think a bit more about that today.
//V// In the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R// And with Your Spirit.

For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord,

Liturgy of
the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the old testament
book of Isaiah 9:2-4, 6-7 (NRSVCE)
Explain: Prophet Isaiah lived a very long time before
Jesus was born as one of us. God asked
Isaiah to speak to the people of Israel to give them hope. Pretend that you an Israelite and listen
closely to what Isaiah said to you.
A prepared child/children come and take the
first reading or second reading.
The first reading is from the old book of Isaiah 9:2-4, 6-7 (NRSVCE)
[a] The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness—
on them light has shined.
3 You have multiplied the nation,
you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
as with joy at the harvest,
as people exult when dividing plunder.
4 For the yoke of their burden,
and the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor,
you have broken as on the day of Midian.
have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness—
on them light has shined.
3 You have multiplied the nation,
you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
as with joy at the harvest,
as people exult when dividing plunder.
4 For the yoke of their burden,
and the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor,
you have broken as on the day of Midian.
For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting
Father, Prince of Peace.
7 His authority shall grow continually,
and there shall be
endless peace
for the throne of David and his kingdom.
He will establish
and uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time
onward and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
“This
is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”.
What did you hear?
If you were an Israelite child, how do
you think you might feel about what Isaiah said to you? You wait?
Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Today
is born our Savior, Christ the Lord......>3x.
Introduce the
Gospel
St. Luke tells us a story of Mary and Joseph. I am certain that all of you are familiar
with this story. One of the best things
about the Holy Scripture is that you can hear and understand new things every
time you read it.
Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the
Gospel through a song
Chorus:
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!
Silently say:”
Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your
Holy Gospel.
The
Leader starts: The Lord be with
You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the
Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to
You, O Lord
Luke 2:1-14(NRSVCE)
The Birth of Jesus
2 In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the
world should be registered. 2 This was the
first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 All went to their own towns to be registered. 4 Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to
the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and
family of David. 5 He went to be
registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands
of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the
inn.
The Shepherds and the Angels
8 In that
region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their
flock by night. 9 Then an angel
of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and
they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing
you good news of great joy for all the people: 11 to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the
Messiah,[a] the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in
bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly
host,[b] praising God and saying,
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and
children’s level of understanding like in the…
Gospel reflection:
Ask: What happened? <let the children retell what they
heard> Did you learn something that
might be new to you? <invite the
children to share> How do you think
you might have felt if you were one of the shepherds? ……
Memory Verse: “Luke 2:14 ( 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom He
favors!”[...”)
Let us stand up and we profess our
faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son,
our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy
Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father
Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the
living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
