I've Got the Joy In My Heart
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart!
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay

And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the love of Jesus in my heart
Down in my heart
And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the love of Jesus in my heart.

Ask: Does anyone remember the theme for last week?  < A Scallop shell, to symbolize baptism and John the Baptist, we learnt that John told us  about the coming of the Messiah, to be ready.
Welcome; Do you all remember what this season is? <Advent>. On the wreath today, we have three candles lit, and today’s 3rd candle lighting, is Pink > Pink means JoyJ, while Purple is a serious color – to remind us to be good and work hard to be closer to God
Say: Today we listen to Jesus say that he came to heal the sick and to bring good news to the poor. We are going to think about how we can be that good news and help to change the lives of people around us.

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the old testament book of Isaiah 35:1-4a 10(NRSVCE)
Explain: Isaiah tells us what it will be like when the Lord returns.  Listen for the descriptions
A prepared child/children come and take\ the first reading or second reading.

The first reading is from the old book of Isaiah 35:1-4a 10(NRSVCE)

The Return of the Redeemed to Zion
35 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad,
    the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
like the crocus 2 it shall blossom abundantly,
and rejoice with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,
    the majesty of our God.
3 Strengthen the weak hands,
and make firm the feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are of a fearful heart,
    “Be strong, do not fear!
Here is your God.
    He will come with vengeance,
with terrible recompense.
He will come and save you.” 10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
    and come to Zion with singing;
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

This is the word of the Lord

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask:  Can you tell me a word picture that Isaiah gave us and how it made you feel? <deserts will bloom, sing joyful songs, blind will see, etc.>  Happiness will be a crown we always wear”.

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

Lord, come and save us.....>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
In the Gospel today, we hear again about John the Baptist.  He was in jail and heard about Jesus teaching the people. He wanted to know if Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah.  He sent some of his friends to ask Jesus. Listen to the message Jesus sent to John and to what he said about John to the other people who were there.
Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song.
Chorus:
Halle Hallelujah
Halle Hallelujah
Halle Hallelujah (Come O come Emmanuel,
Hallelujah!       Come to us free.)
Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord

Matthew 11:2-11 (NRSVCE)

Messengers from John the Baptist

When John heard in prison what the Messiah[a] was doing, he sent word by his[b]disciples and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?” Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers[c] are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news brought to them. And blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me.”
Jesus Praises John the Baptist
As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to look at? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? Someone[d] dressed in soft robes? Look, those who wear soft robes are in royal palaces. What then did you go out to see? A prophet?[e]Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is the one about whom it is written, ‘See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
  ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*)Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the
Gospel reflection:
Ask: Can you tell me what happened?  <let the children retell the story>  What message did Jesus send to John? <he told them to tell John about all that they had seen and heard when they were listening to Jesus>  Why do you think he didn’t simply say “YES, I am the Messiah” ?  Wouldn’t that be easier?
Say: God wants us to think, to use our minds to make decisions.  He wants us to make up our own minds to believe and follow him, not just do what He tells us.

Memory Verse:
“Matthew 11:6 ( And blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me.”...”)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
