Theme: Holy Spirit/Joy. Jesus sends the Holy spirit to His disciples in
the form of tongues of fire. They got filled with Joy.
Welcome: Today we hear how Jesus sent the
Holy Spirit to be with the disciples, to help them see that they could do
anything and to give them the courage to try. Let’s think a bit about what the
Holy Spirit does in our lives today.
Ask: What was last week’s theme? < “The feast of the ascension.”

Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike
the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault

through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.
You were sent to heal the contrite of
heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of
the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us,

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
B: In this reading we hear what
happened to the Apostles on Pentecost.
They were all gathered again, probably in an upper room. They were still probably trying to figure out
how to get Jesus’ message out to the whole world. They were probably still a little afraid of
the soldiers. Pretend like we are the
Apostles, gathered together here, and see if we can understand what happened to
them..
A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
Acts 2:1-11 GNT
The Coming of the Holy
Spirit..
2
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly
a noise came from heaven. It sounded like a strong wind blowing. This noise
filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw something that
looked like flames of fire. The flames were separated and stood over each
person there. 4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to
speak different languages. The Holy Spirit was giving them the power to speak
these languages.
5
There were some religious Jews staying in Jerusalem who were from every country
in the world. 6 When they heard this noise, a crowd came together. They were
all surprised, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 They
were completely amazed at this. They said, “Look! Aren’t all these men that we
hear speaking from Galilee?[a] 8 But each of us hears them in his own language.
How is this possible? We are from different places: 9 Parthia, Media, Elam,
Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the
areas of Libya near Cyrene, Rome 11 (both Jews and those who had become Jews),
Crete and Arabia. But we hear these men telling in our own languages about the
great things God has done!”
“This
is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: What
happened to the Apostles? <let the
children share> What did they see?
<tongues of fire upon each of
their heads and they spoke in different languages!> But everyone that
heard them, could understand them. When we pray to the Holy Spirit to help us
do what God wants us to do, we receive the strength and the ability to do it.>
Say: Let
us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew
the face of the earth> 3x
Introducing
the Gospel
Say: The Gospel reading today tells us how Jesus sent the Apostles
out to spread his word among all people.
There is a Sacrament mentioned here too.
See if you can figure out what it is.
...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and
welcome the gospel!!
Good News
today, Yes good news, good news today, good news today, the news of Salavation.
Alle-luiaAlle,
Alle-luia, Alle- luia, A—lleluia x2
The leader reading the gospel, silently
says: “Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty
God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel”.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. John.
Glory to You, O Lord
John 20:19-23 (GNT)
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
19 It was late that Sunday evening, and the disciples were gathered
together behind locked doors, because they were afraid of the Jewish
authorities. Then Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you,” he
said. 20 After saying this, he showed them his hands and his side. The
disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again,
“Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I send you.” 22 Then he breathed
on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive people's sins,
they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord
Jesus Christ”

(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but
according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the
suggestions below…
Gospel
reflection:
Did anyone hear which
Sacrament Jesus mentioned? <Reconciliation> He gave the Apostles the ability to forgive
sins in Jesus’ name.
Memory
Verse: John 20:23
“23
If you forgive people's sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them,
they are not forgiven...”
Let us stand up and we profess our
faith.
Profession of our faith
I
believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator
of heaven and earth:
And
in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who
was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered
under Pontius Pilate;
was
crucified, died and was buried:
He
descended into hell:
The
third day he rose again from the dead:
He
ascended into heaven,
and
sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From
there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I
believe in the Holy Spirit:
the
holy catholic church:
the
communion of saints:
The
forgiveness of sins:
The
resurrection of the body:
And
the life everlasting.
Amen.
