           Entrance Song
            A new commandment … :
A new commandment I give unto you,
That you love one another as I have loved you,
That you love one another as I have loved you.

By this shall all men know that you are My disciples,
if you have love one for another.
By this shall all men know that you are My disciples,
if you have love one for another.

 (Repeat)

Ask: Does anyone remember the theme for last week?  < Last week’s theme was a fish.  We talked about learning and teaching others about Jesus”>

Welcome; Today we hear about how Jesus was a great teacher. Let’s think about how important it is for everyone to get a chance to go to school and learn.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy. In this reading, God talks to Moses. God tells Moses about how He will choose a prophet.  Listen closely and see if you can hear what God expects from this prophet.

A prepared child/children come and take the first reading or second reading.

Deuteronomy 18:15-20 (GNT)
God speaks to Prophet Moses.
15 Instead, he will send you a prophet like me from among your own people, and you are to obey him.
16 “On the day that you were gathered at Mount Sinai, you begged not to hear the Lord speak again or to see his fiery presence anymore, because you were afraid you would die. 17 So the Lord said to me, ‘They have made a wise request. 18 I will send them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will tell him what to say, and he will tell the people everything I command. 19 He will speak in my name, and I will punish anyone who refuses to obey him. 20 But if any prophet dares to speak a message in my name when I did not command him to do so, he must die for it, and so must any prophet who speaks in the name of other gods.’

This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: What did you hear?  What did God expect from the prophet?
<to hear His message and to tell it to the people>  God expects us to tell the truth and to use our voices to be kind and good.

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

If today you hear God’s voice, harden not your hearts....>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Mark. In this reading from the Gospel of Mark, we hear about the way Jesus taught people.  Jesus spent His time on earth doing the things that God asked Him to do.  He taught people about God, He forgave sins, He told his followers how to live a good life.  Today we hear about a time when he spoke with a very sick person...

Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song. J J

CHORUS: (‘Halle, halle, halle’ ( It’s a Caribbean Chorus)

Halle, halle, halle, lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord

Mark 1:21-28 (GNT)

A Man with an Evil Spirit
21 Jesus and his disciples came to the town of Capernaum, and on the next Sabbath Jesus went to the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people who heard him were amazed at the way he taught, for he wasn't like the teachers of the Law; instead, he taught with authority.

23 Just then a man with an evil spirit came into the synagogue and screamed, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Are you here to destroy us? I know who you are—you are God's holy messenger!”
25 Jesus ordered the spirit, “Be quiet, and come out of the man!”
26 The evil spirit shook the man hard, gave a loud scream, and came out of him. 27 The people were all so amazed that they started saying to one another, “What is this? Is it some kind of new teaching? This man has authority to give orders to the evil spirits, and they obey him!”
28 And so the news about Jesus spread quickly everywhere in the province of Galilee

The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the…
Gospel reflection:

Ask: What happened?  <discuss>  If you were a person who watched Jesus heal a sick man, what would you do?  <discuss>  Probably you would do exactly like the others did – go tell everyone about this fantastic man, Jesus the healer and a great teacher.

Memory Verse: “Mark 1:25-26 (…..25 Jesus ordered the spirit, “Be quiet, and come out of the man!”
26 The evil spirit shook the man hard, gave a loud scream, and came out of him..”)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
