Entrance Song
Follow me
Follow me :
Follow
me, follow me, leave your home and family, Leave your fishing nets and boats
upon the shore.
Leave
the seed that you have sown, leave the crops that yo112u have grown, leave the
people you have known and follow me.
1.
The foxes have their holes,
and
the swallows have their nests,
but
the son of man
has
no place to lay down.
I
do not offer comfort,
I
do not offer wealth,
but
in me will all happiness be found.
Ask: Does anyone
remember the theme for last week? < Today we hear how Jesus named Simon,
Peter, which means “rock”…>
Welcome; Today we
hear about how Jesus called his disciples to follow him. They left what they
were doing and went with him straight away. Let’s think a bit about how we can
follow Jesus in our lives
//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.

Liturgy of
the Word
First Reading, Introduce the reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of Jonah.
(Jonah 3:1-5, 10) Does anyone here
remember anything about Jonah? <swallowed
by a fish> The story of Jonah is
a story about how God helps us to do what he wants us to do.
A prepared child/children come and take the
first reading or second reading.
Jonah
3:1-5 (GNT)
Jonah Obeys the Lord.
3 Once again the Lord spoke to Jonah. 2 He said, “Go to Nineveh, that
great city, and proclaim to the people the message I have given you.” 3 So
Jonah obeyed the Lord and went to Nineveh, a city so large that it took three
days to walk through it. 4 Jonah started through the city, and after walking a
whole day, he proclaimed, “In forty days Nineveh will be destroyed!”
5 The people of Nineveh believed God's message. So they decided that
everyone should fast, and all the people, from the greatest to the least, put
on sackcloth to show that they had repented.
10 God saw what they did; he saw that they had given up their wicked
behavior. So he changed his mind and did not punish them as he had said he
would.
“This is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: What happened when Jonah got to Nineveh? <the
people listened to him and began to follow God> Even when we are
uncomfortable or afraid, when we do what God asks, God will take care of us. With
God’s help, each of us can make a difference in our world.
Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Teach
me your ways, O Lord....>3x.
Introduce the
Gospel
Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Mark. Mark tells us about when Jesus called his
first disciples. They were ordinary men who were fishing for a living. They listened to Jesus and left their work to
help teach others about Him.
Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the
Gospel through a song
Chorus:
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah!
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!
Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips,
almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The
Leader starts: The Lord be with
You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the
Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to
You, O Lord
Mark 1:14-20 (GNT)
Jesus Calls Four Fishermen
14 After John had been put in prison, Jesus went to
Galilee and preached the Good News from God. 15 “The right time has come,” he
said, “and the Kingdom of God is near! Turn away from your sins and believe the
Good News!”
16 As Jesus walked along the shore of Lake Galilee,
he saw two fishermen, Simon and his brother Andrew, catching fish with a net.
17 Jesus said to them, “Come with me, and I will teach you to catch people.” 18
At once they left their nets and went with him.
19 He went a little farther on and saw two other
brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in their boat getting
their nets ready. 20 As soon as Jesus saw them, he called them; they left their
father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went with Jesus.
The Gospel
of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and
children’s level of understanding like in the…
Gospel reflection:
Ask: How do you think you would feel when the two brothers left you with all
the work? <maybe frustrated, maybe
even angry> We don’t always
understand why things work out the way they do.
Sometimes our frustration and our anger closes our ears and hearts to
what Jesus had to teach us
Memory Verse: “Mark 1:20 (…..“As soon as Jesus saw them, he called
them; they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went
with Jesus.”)
Let us stand up and we profess our
faith.
Profession of
our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten
Son, our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who was conceived by the power of the
Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the
dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the
Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the
living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
