Sunday 8t
July 2018
Preparing the worship
space
Colour: Green
Theme: Faith, we also say; Believe.
Faith in Christ Jesus helps us to do wonders.
Welcome: Today we hear how Jesus was teaching with great
wisdom, but the people found it hard to believe in Him. Let’s listen and find
out why.
Ask: What was last week’s theme? < “Healing hand.” > “Remembered two of the miracles of Jesus, but we mainly concentrated
on when He healed a 12 year old girl...”.

Entrance Song
Here I am Lord….
[Verse 1]
I, the Lord of sea and
sky
I have heard my people
cry
All who dwell in dark and
sin
My hand will save
[Chorus]
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart
[Verse 2]
I, who made the stars of
night
I will make their
darkness bright
Who will bear my light to
them?
Whom shall I send?
//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R// And with Your Spirit.

Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike
the breast 3 times as you say-

THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.
You were sent to heal the contrite of
heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of
the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
The first reading today is from the Old
Testament, from the book of the prophet Ezekiel (Ezekiel 2:2-5). It tells about how God asked a simple man to
go talk to all the people of Israel when they were doing bad things and how he
hoped that the Israelites would listen.
A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
Ezekiel 2:2-5 (NRSVCE)
2 And when
he spoke to me, a spirit entered into me and set me on my feet; and I heard him
speaking to me. 3 He said to me, Mortal, I
am sending you to the people of Israel, to a nation[a] of
rebels who have rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have transgressed
against me to this very day. 4 The descendants are
impudent and stubborn. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them,
“Thus says the Lord God.” 5 Whether
they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house), they shall know
that there has been a prophet among them.
“This
is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: How do you think that Ezekiel
felt when God asked him to go talk to the people of Israel? <discuss> How do you think you would feel if God asked
you to do this job?
Say: Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< I will praise you, Lord,
for you have rescued me!> x3
Introducing
the Gospel
Say: The Gospel reading for today was written
by the Apostle Mark (Mark 6:1-6) It tells about how the people from Jesus’
hometown didn’t believe in Him. They
knew Him when he was growing up and didn’t appreciate or understand that He
could be the Son of God. The sad part is
that since they didn’t believe in Him, He could not help them.
...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and
welcome the gospel!!
Yelele yelele Halleluiah. [G]
Chorus: Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele
Halleluiah.
1. Eyende mbele,
Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
2. Moto, moto,
Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
The leader reading the gospel, silently
says: “Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty
God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel”.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark.
Glory to You, O Lord
Mark 6:1-6
(NRSVCE)
The Rejection of Jesus at Nazareth
6 He left that place and came to his hometown, and his disciples
followed him. 2 On the sabbath he began to teach
in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did
this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What
deeds of power are being done by his hands! 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary[a] and brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon, and are
not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense[b] at him. 4 Then Jesus said to them,
“Prophets are not without honor, except in their hometown, and among their own
kin, and in their own house.” 5 And he could do no deed of power
there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. 6 And he was amazed at their unbelief.
The Mission of the Twelve
Then he went about
among the villages teaching.
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord
Jesus Christ”
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but
according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the
suggestions below…
Gospel
reflection:
Say: Now, let’s all
pretend that we are the people from Nazareth and Jesus was a little boy you
grew up with. Think about how hard it must have been for them to know Jesus
as God.
Memory
Verse: Mark 6:5
5 And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid
his hands on a few sick people and cured them
Let us stand up and we profess our
faith.
Profession of our faith
I
believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator
of heaven and earth:
And
in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who
was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered
under Pontius Pilate;
was
crucified, died and was buried:
He
descended into hell:
The
third day he rose again from the dead:
He
ascended into heaven,
and
sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From
there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I
believe in the Holy Spirit:
the
holy catholic church:
the
communion of saints:
The
forgiveness of sins:
The
resurrection of the body:
And
the life everlasting.
Amen.
