All the children of the world

Of the world.

Jesus died for all the children
All the children of the world
Red, brown, yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus died for all the children
Of the world.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament, the book of Genesis. (Genesis 2:18-24) This is the story of how God created the first family.  Does anyone remember the names of the first family?  <Adam & Eve> Let’s listen to the reading and think about what we need to learn about families.

A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
First reading.
Genesis 2:18-24
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to live alone. I will make a suitable companion to help him.” 19 So he took some soil from the ground and formed all the animals and all the birds. Then he brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and that is how they all got their names. 20 So the man named all the birds and all the animals; but not one of them was a suitable companion to help him.

21 Then the Lord God made the man fall into a deep sleep, and while he was sleeping, he took out one of the man's ribs and closed up the flesh. 22 He formed a woman out of the rib and brought her to him. 23 Then the man said,

“At last, here is one of my own kind—
Bone taken from my bone, and flesh from my flesh.
‘Woman’ is her name because she was taken out of man.”[a]

24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united with his wife, and they become one.

This is the word of the Lord”
All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask:  What do you think was being said here about families?  <the children will talk about man & woman and marriage.  Affirm this BUT say that.... > God tells us to become like one person.  This means that we are supposed to love the people we live with, our families, and treat them as well as we treat ourselves.  Our families are as important as we are.

Say: Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< May the Lord bless us all the days of our lives....> x3

Introducing the Gospel
Say: The Gospel selection today is from the book of Mark. (Mark 10:13-16). The last couple of weeks, we have been talking about things that happened when Jesus was just sitting around talking with people.  Today will be the same.  Today, Mark tells about a time when Jesus was teaching.  Some parents tried to come to Him with their children so that He could bless them.  Jesus’ friends tried to keep them from interrupting Him.  Listen closely to hear what Jesus did and said.

...with Alleluia!! –
everyone stands and sings the acclamation together. Suggestions include:!!

CHORUS: (‘Halle, halle, halle’ (Caribbean))
Halle, halle, halle, lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Halle, halle, halle lu-u-jah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

The leader reading the gospel, silently says: Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark.
Glory to You, O Lord

Mark 10:13-16  (GNT)

Jesus Blesses Little Children
13 Some people brought children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples scolded the people. 14 When Jesus noticed this, he was angry and said to his disciples, “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” 16 Then he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on each of them, and blessed them.
“The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…

Gospel reflection:
Ask: What did Jesus do? <told His disciples to let the people come to Him, held the children, blessed the children> What did that mean?  < it meant that sometimes adults get wrapped up in their own importance - sometimes children do too - and forget what is really important.  Love is what is most important> Did that mean that children can always interrupt adults?  <NO - but adults should be kind and loving

Memory Verse: Mark 10:16
16 Then he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on each of them, and blessed them..”

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

====  7:24 - 7:26 ====
Prayers of the Faithful  Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-) Intercessions.
You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions here.
Leader: We know that Jesus welcomed children and so we have the courage to pray together:

Prayer 1.
We pray for all people who are poor in our world: that God may give them hope and love. May we listen to our sisters and brothers and protect the environment, which is our home.
We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2. We pray for our parish, families and friends: that we may be moved to care for one another, so everyone can enjoy God’s gifts. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 3. We pray for the work of Children’s liturgy: that we may continue to help and support people who are living in fear. We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 4. God of love, you teach us to see that the world is good. Help us to care for creation and to love our sisters and brothers. We pray to the Lord...

====  7:26 - 7:28 ====
Silently, each one tells God your petition.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen
