Welcome;
Today we are going to talk about what Jesus had to say about being Number One, about being first.
Ask: Don’t we all think that we are Number One?  And that Number One is the best?  If a team wins a game, what do we call them?  <Number One> Who are the winners in our world today?  <Uganda didn’t get a gold medal in the OlympicsL but politicians, movie stars, rock stars, etc.>

FocusMemory Verse
Luke 14:8... “When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor...
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy2
Lord have mercy
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading
In the book of Sirach, we hear a beautiful word, HUMBLE. Can anyone tell me what the word HUMBLE means? <It means low or ordinary.> When someone is humble, they don’t put themselves first, they treat everyone as if they were very important.  Let’s listen.

Now give to the child to start reading the first reading below.

Today’s first reading is from the old Testament book of Sirach 3:17-18,20 (NRSVCE)

Humility
1My child, perform your tasks with humility;[a]
then you will be loved by those whom God accepts. 18 The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself;so you will find favor in the sight of the Lord.[b]
Sirach 3:20
20 For great is the might of the Lord;
but by the humble he is glorified.

This is the word of the Lord,

Ask: If you are important, how can you ACT humble?  <by being nice to others, by treating them as if they were special>  How did Jesus tell us to treat other people? <   He told us that we should treat other people the way we would treat Jesus.>

Responsorial Psalm
God, in your goodness, you have made a home for the poor.

Introducing the Gospel
Jesus went to a party, a wedding feast.  He watched some of the guests and how they acted. He used their behavior at the party to tell us how we should behave all the time.  He had something to say to the guests and something else to say to the man hosting the party.  Listen closely and see if you can hear what Jesus said to each of these people.

..with Alleluia!! -,
Welcoming the Gospel;

You are welcome Lord of Lords,

You are welcome King of Kings

You are welcome Lord of Hosts

You are welcome Prince of Peace..

You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,

Alle..lluia Might God!!!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit

The Gospel reading is from the book of...”  Luke 14:1,7-14 (NRSVCE)

Praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ..

Humility and Hospitality

14 On one occasion when Jesus[a] was going to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the sabbath, they were watching him closely.
When he noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. “When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor, in case someone more distinguished than you have been invited by your host; and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, ‘Give this person your place,’ and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. 10 But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher’; then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. 11 For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
12 He said also to the one who had invited Him, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. 14 And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

 “The Gospel of the Lord”,

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
====  7:24 - 7:27 ====
Gospel Reflection.

Ask:  What do you think this story was all about?  <discuss>   What did Jesus tell the guests? <not to take the best seats, not to put themselves first>  What did Jesus tell the host of the party?  <to invite people who couldn’t repay his hospitality>

Explain:  Usually when you have a party, you invite your friends and then when they have parties, they invite you.  Jesus told the host to invite people who were poor and sick.  Why would he do that?  <because to truly give, you must not be thinking about yourself and what you will receive later>  The poor and sick people would never be able to give anything back to the host of the party.  By inviting them to a place at his table, he would be treating them like they were important.  This is what Jesus asks all of us to do.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
And the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven,
and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He shall come again to judge the leaving and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-) Intercessions:  You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the only One, so we pray together asking Him to teach us how to be HUMBLE:

Prayer 1We pray for our most Holy Father, Pope Francis, our archbishop, Priests and all the clergy that God and Lord, who chose them to serve the church, may keep them safe and unharmed as they show their actions like those of Christ Jesus. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2. We pray for our government, and governments all over the world to work in harmony with the church. May they know that Jesus is there for all of us, and that Jesus will guide us home, just as He returned home to His Father in Heaven. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 3. We pray for all people in our parish and schools: that they may be inspired by God to show Christ's love in all that they do, teach and say. We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 4. Let us pray for our families and friends: that we may make time for each other and try to have peaceful relationships... We pray to the Lord....

Ask the children close their eyes and give in their petitions silently and conclude after 10seconds in words below

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen
Then...
