Welcome: We will hear about the oil lamp in today’s Gospel.  If we used a symbol of today, we might use a flashlight.  What would you use a flashlight for?  <to show the way in the dark>  Do you have flashlights at home ready for an emergency?  We need to be ready to show our lights for Jesus....

FocusMemory Verse

Luke 12:40“..”The Son of Man will come at a time when you don’t expect Him!”...”

in my thoughts and in my words

in what I have done and In what I have failed to do

-strike the breast 3 times as you say-

THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin

and you, my brothers and sisters

to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord

For we have sinned against yo

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy

And grant us your salvation

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart

Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners

Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.

Liturgy of the Word

(Hebrews 11:1-2,8-12)This reading talks about FAITH.  Can anyone tell me what faith is? <discuss – Faith is believing>  We will hear about a man who had a lot of FAITH in God.  Let’s listen closely and see if we can hear the message God wants us to hear today.

Today’s first reading is from the New Testament letter to the Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-12

Faith

11 Faith means being sure of the things we hope for. And faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. People who lived in the past became famous because of faith.

8 It was by faith Abraham obeyed God’s call to go to another place that God promised to give him. He left his own country, not knowing where he was to go.It was by faith that he lived in the country God promised to give him. He lived there like a visitor who did not belong. He lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who had received that same promise from God. 10 Abraham was waiting for the city[a]that has real foundations—the city planned and built by God.

11 He was too old to have children, and Sarah was not able to have children. It was by faith that Abraham was made able to become a father. Abraham trusted God to do what he had promised.[b] 12 This man was so old that he was almost dead. But from him came as many descendants as there are stars in the sky. They are as many as the grains of sand on the seashore that cannot be counted.

This is the word of the Lord,

Responsorial Psalm

O Lord, hear my prayer.

Introducing the Gospel

Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of St. Luke.  (Luke 12:35-40)  If you were up late and waiting for someone to come home, what would you do?  <leave the lights on>  Would you do that if you didn’t think that they were coming?>  Jesus has a teaching story (a parable) for us to hear today about servants who kept their lamps burning while they waited for their master to come home.  Let’s see what Jesus said about keeping your lights ready for him.

With Alleluia!!, let’s welcome the Gospel.

Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia,

Lets praise the Lord,

Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia,

Lets praise the Lord,

Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord

Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord

Alle..lluia Lets praise the Lord!!!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.

The Lord be with You,

AND with your Spirit

The Gospel reading is from the book of...” Luke 12:35-40 (ICB)

Always Be Ready

35 “Be ready! Be dressed for service and have your lamps shining. 36 Be like servants who are waiting for their master to come home from a wedding party. The master comes and knocks. The servants immediately open the door for him.37 Those servants will be blessed when their master comes home, because he sees that his servants are ready and waiting for him. I tell you the truth. The master will dress himself to serve and tell the servants to sit at the table. Then the master will serve them. 38 Those servants might have to wait until midnight or later for their master. But they will be happy when he comes in and finds them still waiting.

39 “Remember this: If the owner of the house knew what time a thief was coming, then the owner would not allow the thief to enter his house. 40 So you also must be ready! The Son of Man will come at a time when you don’t expect him!”

 “The Gospel of the Lord”,

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”

(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:

Gospel Reflection.

Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of St.

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to do the right thing in the coming week.

Profession of our faith

I believe in God the Father, Almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: --bow down--

Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary:

Suffered under Pontius Pilate;

was crucified, died and was buried:

He descended into hell:

And the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven,

and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:

From there He shall come again to judge the living and the dead:

I believe in the Holy Spirit:

the holy catholic church:

the communion of saints:

The forgiveness of sins:

The resurrection of the body:

And the life everlasting.

Amen.
