Entrance Song

I have got peace like a River
I've got peace like a river
I've got peace like a river
I've got peace like a river
In my soul
I've got peace like a river
I've got peace like a river
I've got peace like a river
In my soul
I've got love like an ocean….

I've got joy like a fountain…..

I've got peace, love and joy like a mountain….

Ask: Does anyone remember the theme for last week?  < A little Light.”> We talked about how we can be an example for others, like a light shining to show the way in the dark.

Welcome; Scripture tells us that the way we behave is our gift to God. Today we hear about how we must not argue with our brothers and sisters and how, if we do, we need to make peace with them. Let’s think about making peace with all our brothers and sisters around the world..

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of Sirach. (Sirach 15:15-20)  In this reading, we learn that God gives us choices.
A prepared child/children come and take the first reading or second reading.
First Reading; Sirach 15:15-20

15 If you want to, you can keep the Lord's commands. You can decide whether you will be loyal to him or not. 16 He has placed fire and water before you; reach out and take whichever you want. 17 You have a choice between life and death; you will get whichever you choose. 18 The Lord's wisdom and power are great and he sees everything. 19 He is aware of everything a person does, and he takes care of those who fear him. 20 He has never commanded anyone to be wicked or given anyone permission to sin.

This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask:  What is this reading telling us?  <that God doesn’t force us to obey, that God gives us a choice how to behave>  Does anyone remember the saying that means that God gives us a choice?  <free will>

Say: Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:

A light rises in the darkness for the upright.....>3x.

Introduce the Gospel

Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of St. Matthew.  (Matt 5:23-24).  St. Matthew tells us something very important that Jesus said.  Remember, that since we are followers of Jesus, the most important things in the whole Bible for us to pay attention to are the things that Jesus said.
Now we will stand to get ready to hear the Gospel
..with an Alleluia!! – OR
Welcome the Gospel through a songJ J
Chorus:
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!

Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Moto Moto, Hallelujah
Yelele Yelele, Hallelujah!

The person leading, silently say: Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord
Matthew 5:23-24 (GNT)

Make Peace First.
23 So if you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.

The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the…

Gospel reflection:

Ask: What happened?  <let the children retell what they heard>  What did Jesus tell us to do?  <Jesus said that it was very very important to forgive and make peace with one another>  How is this behavior a gift to Jesus?  <let the children respond in their own words - because we did what He told us to do, because when we forgive, we are giving love to God’s children

Memory Verse: “Matthew 5:24 (“24 leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.…..”)

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting. Amen.
