Seek first the kingdom of heaven

Give God his due, and God will give back to you, Turn your water into wine.

Go about richly clad

Seeking the rainbow’s end

I tell you God He will surely ditch

All those among the rich

Who have no poor man friend

Liturgy of the Word

Introduce the first reading.

Today’s first reading is from the Old

Testament book of the prophet Isaiah 56:1, 6-

7..  Traditionally the Jewish people felt that God would ignore the prayers and problems of people who were not Jewish.  The reading from Isaiah gives us a different thought.  Let’s hear what the prophet Isaiah proclaimed.

A prepared child/children come and take the reading.

Isaiah 56:1, 6-7 GNT

God's People Will Include All Nations

56 The LORD says to his people, “Do what is just and right, for soon I will save you. 6 And the LORD says to those foreigners who become part of his people, who love him and serve him, who observe the Sabbath and faithfully keep his covenant: 7 “I will bring you to Zion, my sacred hill,[a] give you joy in my house of prayer, and accept the sacrifices you offer on my altar. My Temple will be called a house of prayer for the people of all nations.”  This is the word of the Lord;

All say “Thanks be to God”. Ask:  What did you hear?  <let the children discuss>  Who does God call to worship?  <everyone, including me you, foreigners and those from other countries>

Say: Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:

< O God, let all the nations praise

you!.…> 3x

Introducing the Gospel

Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Matthew 15:21-28 It tells us about a woman who wanted Jesus to help her daughter. Jesus was of the line of David, He was the messiah, and the messiah came to save the Jewish people. Now imagine that you are part of the crowd following Jesus.  You are a Jew and you are feeling pretty special about this wonderful new teacher named Jesus.  A woman from Cana comes up to him asking him to help her sick daughter.  This woman is a stranger, not Jewish.  Let'’ listen now and find out what happens.

....with Alleluia!!

WE SING WHILE STANDING AND WELCOME THE GOSPEL!!

CHORUS:    HALLELUIAH, HALLELUIAH X3 YELELE YELELE HALLELUIAH.

1.      EYENDE MBELE, HALLELUIAH X3 YELELE YELELE HALLELUIAH.

2.      MOTO, MOTO, HALLELUIAH X3

YELELE YELELE HALLELUIAH The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.

The Leader starts:

-The Lord be with You,

-And with your Spirit. A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew. Glory to You, O Lord

Matthew 15:21-28(GNT)

A Woman's Faith

21 Jesus left that place and went off to the territory near the cities of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman who lived in that region came to him. “Son of David!” she cried out. “Have mercy on me, sir! My daughter has a demon and is

in a terrible condition.”

23  But Jesus did not say a word to her. His disciples came to him and begged him, “Send her away! She is following us

and making all this noise!”

24  Then Jesus replied, “I have been sent

only to the lost sheep of the people of

Israel.”

25  At this the woman came and fell at his feet. “Help me, sir!” she said.

26  Jesus answered, “It isn't right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs.”

27  “That's true, sir,” she answered, “but even the dogs eat the leftovers that fall from their masters' table.”

28  So Jesus answered her, “You are a woman of great faith! What you want will be done for you.” And at that very moment her daughter was healed.

“The Gospel of the Lord”

Glory and Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

 ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====

(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and children’s level of

understanding like in the suggestions below…

Gospel reflection:

Ask: What was Jesus’ first response to the woman?  <He said that He was sent to the people of Israel>  Did that mean he wouldn’t help her?  <no>

Say:  Jesus helps everyone who believes in Him. Our God is the God of everyone, a God of the whole GLOBE.

Memory Verse: Mathew

“Matthew 15:27“27 “That's true, sir,” she answered, “but even the dogs eat the leftovers that fall from their masters' table.”…..”.

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith I believe in God the Father, Almighty, creator of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:

         --bow down--

Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, died and was buried:

He descended into hell: The third day he rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:  I believe in the Holy Spirit: the holy catholic church: the communion of saints:

The forgiveness of sins:

The resurrection of the body:

And the life everlasting.

Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-) Intercessions. You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions here.

Leader:   Sometime the things that we must do to follow Jesus are much harder than what we think we can do.  We must truly believe that God will take care of us Let us reflect on His goodness as we pray together:

Prayer 1.  Let us pray for the church leaders, especially our Pope Francis, our Archbishop Cyprian Lwanga, and all the clergy, that they may see the importance of all their people, especially foreigners and the poor, not tp just the rich and powerful. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2 .  We pray for our leaders all over the world, that they may see the importance of all their people, especially those in need to make them feel they belong to the community. Father, help our leaders to be servants to others as Jesus did.. We pray to the Lord..

Prayer 4 God of hope, , hear our prayers for all people who have lost their loved ones, who are sad and afraid: may they know that they are not alone or forgotten, and find the support that they need from others and for the souls of the departed, Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them... We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 5 And for all of us gathered here today, Loving and self-giving God, teach us to follow the example of your Son, Jesus, who was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. Lead us to be submissive to you, and kind and considerate to others.  We pray to the Lord...

...

====  7:26 - 7:28 ====

Silently, each one tells God your petition. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen ====  7:28 - 7:30 ==== Song Interlude: Walk Walk in the light, walk walk in the light, Sing as we give in our offertory and we walk to the big  church... NOTE-- after the song, is being sung, we pick the children that will perform next Sunday....

Prayer 3. Let us pray for our parish, families and friends: that we may welcome all people. We know that all people are important, because they are loved by you no matter who they are, help us to do all that we can to help others to move forward with hope and in peace... We pray to the Lord...
