   Order of Mass

Fourth Sunday of Easter (Year B)
Sunday 26 April 2015

Preparing the worship space
Colour: White

        ====  7:00 - 7:03 ====
Entrance Song:
Chorus.

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will, He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and Obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,

Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;

What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;

Never fear, only trust and obey.

Welcome: Today we are going to hear Jesus tell a story. He calls himself the good shepherd, who cares for his sheep. This story shows us that Jesus knows and cares for all people. Let’s think about how we can care for all people too, no matter where they are in the world.
Focus:
< The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone. .>
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the HolySpirit. Amen.
May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite

Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading
Say: Today’s first reading is from the New Testament book called the Acts of the Apostles. Acts Acts 4:8-12
Usually we hear a reading from the Old Testament before the Gospel reading.  During the Easter season, we will hear from the New Testament book of Acts... Does anyone remember why that would be?  <because in Acts we learn about the days of the early church – and during the Easter season, the church spends time studying how the early church was formed in the days after Jesus’ death and Resurrection>
Now give to the child to start reading the first reading below.

Today’s first reading is from the first New Testament book of Acts. (Acts Acts 4:8-12)

8 Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, answered them, “Leaders of the people and elders: 9 if we are being questioned today about the good deed done to the lame man and how he was healed, 10 then you should all know, and all the people of Israel should know, that this man stands here before you completely well through the power of the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth—whom you crucified and whom God raised from death. 11 Jesus is the one of whom the scripture says,
‘The stone that you the builders despised
turned out to be the most important of all.’
12 Salvation is to be found through him alone; in all the world there is no one else whom God has given who can save us.”
Thanks be to God”.

..with Alleluia!! -
Welcoming the Gospel
Alle-llu, Alle-llu, Alle-llu, Alle-lluia,
Lets praise the Lord...
Alle-llu, Alle-llu, Alle-llu, Alle-lluia,
Lets praise the Lord...
Alle..lluia, Lets praise the Lord...
Alle..lluia, Lets praise the Lord...
Alle..lluia, Lets praise the Lord...
Alle..lluia, Lets praise the Lord...

Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit
The Gospel reading is from the book of...”John John 10:11-18

And at the end, say “The Gospel of the Lord” and all repeat “Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ

11 “I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep. 12 When the hired man, who is not a shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees a wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away; so the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hired man runs away because he is only a hired man and does not care about the sheep. 14-15 I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing to die for them. 16 There are other sheep which belong to me that are not in this sheep pen. I must bring them, too; they will listen to my voice, and they will become[a] one flock with one shepherd.
17 “The Father loves me because I am willing to give up my life, in order that I may receive it back again. 18 No one takes my life away from me. I give it up of my own free will. I have the right to give it up, and I have the right to take it back. This is what my Father has commanded me to do.”
Gospel of the Lord”,  “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ

(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
====  7:24 - 7:27 ====
Gospel Reflection.
Ask:  What do you remember from today’s reading?
Jesus calls himself the good shepherd, who carefully looks after his sheep. Why do you think Jesus calls himself a shepherd?
Who do you think that the sheep are that Jesus talks about in this story?
When he says sheep, Jesus means us, because he cares for us and for all people around the world.
How does it make you feel to know that Jesus loves and cares for you that much?
If a wolf came to attack the sheep in a field, someone who did not care about them would run away, and the sheep would scatter. But Jesus loves his sheep so much he is prepared to die to save them from danger!
Sometimes it can be very difficult to stop someone or something that we do not like or that we know is wrong. We might be afraid that we will be hurt or laughed at.
Have you ever felt like running away and hiding instead of standing up for someone? What happened? What did you do?

Profession of our faith

I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
And the third day He rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He shall come again to judge the leaving and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
