Children’s liturgy – Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B) Nov 15th 2015

Colour: Green
Props: Note: [today’s readings are hard to understand, especially for little ones.  The focus should be on acting with love and going to heaven.  That is what we are promised when we make the right choices.  You may get questions about death, heaven, hell, etc.  Be prepared to handle them lightly, but remember to be positive, honest and comforting - never frightening.  As followers of Jesus, we are promised eternal life]

        ====  7:00 - 7:03 ====
Entrance Song:
Verse 1
Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,
light for the world to see.

Refrain
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word

First Reading, Introduce the reading.

Say: Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament, the book of the prophet Daniel 12:1-3,  It is one of the stories in the Bible that tells us what will happen at the end of the world.
A prepared child comes and takes the first reading or second reading.

Daniel 12:1-3International Children’s Bible (ICB)

The Time of the End

12 “Daniel, at that time Michael, the great prince, will stand up. (He is the one who protects your people.) There will be a time of much trouble. It will be the worst time since nations have been on earth. But your people will be saved. Everyone whose name is written in God’s book will be saved. Many people who have already died will live again. Some of them will wake up to have life forever. But some will wake up to find shame and disgrace forever. The wise people will shine like the brightness of the sky. Those who teach others to live right will shine like stars forever and ever.
This is the word of the Lord
All say Thanks be to God.
Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Keep me safe, O God, you are my hope!.>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
Explain:  In this reading, like the last one, we hear about the end of the world.  It is hard to imagine that the world will end.  Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that there is a better world than this one.  But we are told that heaven is so much better.
NOW;
 Let us welcome the Gospel:
..with Alleluia!! - OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song.
Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia,
Lets praise the Lord,
Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia,
Lets praise the Lord,
Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord
Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord
Alle..lluia Lets praise the Lord!!!

Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit.

The Gospel Reading was written by Mark 10:17-27 (full reading Mark 10:17-27) International Children’s Bible (ICB)
Let Lord’s Word be in my mind <make a cross on forehead>, and on my lips <make a cross on lips>, and in my heart <make a cross on the left side of the chest>         OR
Glory to You Lord Jesus Christ.

Mark 13:24-32International Children’s Bible (ICB)

24 “During the days after this trouble comes,
‘The sun will grow dark.
And the moon will not give its light.
25 The stars will fall from the sky.
And everything in the sky will be changed.’ Isaiah 13:10; 34:4
26 “Then people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.27 The Son of Man will send his angels all around the earth. They will gather his chosen people from every part of the earth.
28 “The fig tree teaches us a lesson: When its branches become green and soft, and new leaves begin to grow, then you know that summer is near. 29 So also when you see all these things happening, then you will know that the time is near, ready to come. 30 I tell you the truth. All these things will happen while the people of this time are still living.31 The whole world, earth and sky, will be destroyed, but the words I have said will never be destroyed.
32 “No one knows when that day or time will be. The Son and the angels in heaven don’t know. Only the Father knows.
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ”

  ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the
Gospel reflection:
Ask: What do you think about this reading?  Allow some discussion.
Say: You are the shining stars in God’s heaven.

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
                  --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the leaving  and the
dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
