Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)Nov 8th 2015

Colour: Green
Props: Shoebox, coloured paper, pens and pencils

Make a collection box out of a shoebox with a slit in the lid. Give the children coin-shaped pieces of paper and ask them to write or draw on them what they will give or share with others in the coming week. When they have done this, ask them to come forward and put their “coins” in the collection box like the widow in the gospel story.

Ask the children to go home and tell their family all that they have heard and thought about today. Ask them to try to be as generous as possible in the coming week and to give what they can to share with others
NOTE: this is only done if you have enough time.
          ====  7:00 - 7:03 ====
Entrance Song:
Let there be love shared among us.
Let there be love that is real,
Let all this love sweep this nation; Cause us oh Lord, to arise!
Give us afresh understanding of brotherly love, that is real,
Let there be love shared among us,
Let there be Love

Welcome;
Say Today we hear about a woman who did something very special. And we think about how we can share from what we have, no matter how little that is.  Be generous.
Ask: Can anyone tell me what the word generous means?  <to share well, not to keep everything to ourselves>>
ExplainToday is the thirty-second Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year B.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God

Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word

First Reading, Introduce the reading.

Say: Today’s first reading tells about something that happened when Elijah asked a poor woman to share her bread with him.  Listen closely so you can hear what she did.
A prepared child comes and takes the first reading or second reading.

1 Kings 17:10-16 Good News Translation (GNT)

10 So Elijah went to Zarephath, and as he came to the town gate, he saw a widow gathering firewood. “Please bring me a drink of water,” he said to her. 11 And as she was going to get it, he called out, “And please bring me some bread, too.”
12 She answered, “By the living Lord your God I swear that I don't have any bread. All I have is a handful of flour in a bowl and a bit of olive oil in a jar. I came here to gather some firewood to take back home and prepare what little I have for my son and me. That will be our last meal, and then we will starve to death.”
13 “Don't worry,” Elijah said to her. “Go on and prepare your meal. But first make a small loaf from what you have and bring it to me, and then prepare the rest for you and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The bowl will not run out of flour or the jar run out of oil before the day that I, the Lord, send rain.’”
15 The widow went and did as Elijah had told her, and all of them had enough food for many days. 16 As the Lord had promised through Elijah, the bowl did not run out of flour nor did the jar run out of oil.
This is the word of the Lord
All say “Thanks be to God.

Let us focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Praise the Lord, my soul!.>3x.

Introduce the Gospel
Ask:  Does anyone know what a widow is?
Explain:  In many times in history, particularly biblical times, women needed men to take care of them.  Women cared for the home and family and men took care of finding the money and the food for them to live on.  So a widow was usually very poor.  Usually a widow did not own very much at all.  Let’s listen to the words Mark wrote and hear about what happened to this particular widow.
 Let us welcome the Gospel:
..with Alleluia!! - OR
Welcome the Gospel through a song.
Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia,
Lets praise the Lord,
Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lu Alle-lluia,
Lets praise the Lord,
Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord
Alle-luia, Lets Praise the Lord
Alle..lluia Lets praise the Lord!!!

Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit.

The Gospel Reading was written by Mark 10:17-27 (full reading Mark 10:17-27) International Children’s Bible (ICB)
Let Lord’s Word be in my mind <make a cross on forehead>, and on my lips <make a cross on lips>, and in my heart <make a cross on the left side of the chest>         OR
Glory to You Lord Jesus Christ.

Mark 12:41-44 Good News Translation

The Widow's Offering

41 As Jesus sat near the Temple treasury, he watched the people as they dropped in their money. Many rich men dropped in a lot of money; 42 then a poor widow came along and dropped in two little copper coins, worth about a penny. 43 He called his disciples together and said to them, “I tell you that this poor widow put more in the offering box than all the others. 44 For the others put in what they had to spare of their riches; but she, poor as she is, put in all she had—she gave all she had to live on.”
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Glory and praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ”
  ====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the
Gospel reflection:
The woman gave everything she had. While the people who had lots of money just gave a little bit of what they had left over;

Which do you think Jesus would like us to be like, the poor widow or the rich people? Why?
Jesus wants us to be generous and to share all that we have with others. Jesus asks us to give what we have to help others, as the widow does.
Jesus also shows us in this reading, that everyone has something that they can give, even if at first it does not look like they do.

We can give money, but we can also give other things too. Can you think what else we can give and share with others?
For example; We can give our time – by listening to others, by being there for them when they are sad or worried.
Dear Children, continue to do things that give our God glory.

Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
                  --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the leaving  and the
dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-)Intercessions.
You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.

We are called to be generous and share what we have with each other, and so we pray together:

Prayer 1. We pray for world leaders: that they may be generous and fair, so that all their people have enough to live free from poverty.. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2 .  We pray for all members of our global family: that we may see that all people have something important to give, no matter how small it seems at first.. We pray to the Lord..

Prayer 3.
We pray for our parish, families and friends: that we may be as generous as possible, and give of what we have, to share with others. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 4 And for all of us gathered here, God of light, we know that all people have something that they can give to share with others. Show us what we can give and help us to be generous as we share with others We pray to the Lord...

====  7:26 - 7:28 ====

Silently, each one tell God your petition.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, for ever and ever.
