Welcome: Today we hear how an uninvited woman seeks out Jesus at a dinner party and Jesus teaches a Pharisee called Simon the real meaning of forgiveness. Let's see what Jesus has to say about how we should treat each other.

Focus: Memory Verse
1 Kings 17:50.. Jesus said to the woman, “Because you believed, you are saved from your sins. Go in peace..

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy2
Lord have mercy
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading
In this reading,
Nathan reminded King David of all the good things that God did for him.  Nathan also pointed out something King David did that wasn’t nice.  Listen closely to hear about God’s forgiveness.

Now give to the child to start reading the first reading below.

Today’s first reading is from the old Testament book of  2 Samuel 12:7-10 ICB)

7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I appointed you king of Israel. I saved you from Saul. 8 I gave you his kingdom and his wives. And I made you king of Israel and Judah. And if that had not been enough, I would have given you even more. 9 So why did you ignore the Lord’s command? Why did you do what he says is wrong? You killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword of the Ammonites! And you took his wife to become your wife! 10 So there will always be people in your family who will be killed by a sword. This is because you showed that you did not respect me! And you took the wife of Uriah the Hittite!’

2 Samuel 12:13-14 (ICB)

13 Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.”

Nathan answered, “The Lord has taken away your sin. You will not die. 14 But what you did caused the Lord’s enemies to lose all respect for him. For this reason the son who was born to you will die.”

The word of the Lord,

Responsorial Psalm
Lord, forgive the wrong I have done.

Introducing the Gospel
In the Gospel story, we are going to hear about washing feet.  This sounds strange to us because it is not something we do!  But in the time and place where Jesus lived...... people walked everywhere – no cars or planes.  Many people were so poor that they did not own shoes... so they walked barefoot or in sandals.  How do you think their feet looked?  <DIRTY>  When a guest comes to your house, you usually offer them a place to wash themselves up, right?  In Jesus’ time, you would have offered to wash their feet (but you might forget to offer if the guest was a good friend or family member).
..with Alleluia!! -,

Welcoming the Gospel

You are welcome Lord of Lords,
You are welcome King of Kings
You are welcome Lord of Hosts
You are welcome Prince of Peace..
You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,
Alle..lluia Might God!!!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit
The Gospel reading is from the book of...”
Luke 7:36-8:3 (ICB)

Simon the Pharisee

36 One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him. Jesus went into the Pharisee’s house and sat at the table. 37 A sinful woman in the town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house. So she brought an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 She stood at Jesus’ feet, crying, and began to wash his feet with her tears. She dried his feet with her hair, kissed them many times and rubbed them with the perfume. 39 The Pharisee who asked Jesus to come to his house saw this. He thought to himself, “If Jesus were a prophet, he would know that the woman who is touching him is a sinner!”
40 Jesus said to the Pharisee, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”
Simon said, “Teacher, tell me.”
41 Jesus said, “There were two men. Both men owed money to the same banker. One man owed the banker 500 silver coins.[a] The other man owed the banker 50 silver coins. 42 The men had no money; so they could not pay what they owed. But the banker told the men that they did not have to pay him. Which one of the two men will love the banker more?”
43 Simon, the Pharisee, answered, “I think it would be the one who owed him the most money.”
Jesus said to Simon, “You are right.” 44 Then Jesus turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? When I came into your house, you gave me no water for my feet. But she washed my feet with her tears and dried my feet with her hair. 45 You did not kiss me, but she has been kissing my feet since I came in! 46 You did not rub my head with oil, but she rubbed my feet with perfume. 47 I tell you that her many sins are forgiven. This is clear because she showed great love. But the person who has only a little to be forgiven will feel only a little love.”
48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 The people sitting at the table began to think to themselves, “Who is this man? How can he forgive sins?”
50 Jesus said to the woman, “Because you believed, you are saved from your sins. Go in peace.”

“The Gospel of the Lord”,

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
====  7:24 - 7:27 ====
Gospel Reflection.
Ask:  What happened in this story?  <a woman came to Jesus and washed his feet with her tears>  What did Jesus’ friend have to say about this?  <that the woman was not a nice woman and should not be touching his feet>  And what did Jesus say?  <let the children re-tell - he told a story about a moneylender who lent money to 2 people... a LOT of money to 1 person and a little to the other.  Neither person could pay so the lender said not to pay him back. > WHICH person was more grateful to the moneylender? <the one who owed the most>

Ask: What was Jesus trying to say about the woman?  <that she was a sinner and would be more grateful for forgiveness because her sins were greater than Jesus’ friends>  Jesus is God and ALWAYS forgives...even when people think they don’t deserve it.  We always need to forgive too, even when it is hard!

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to do the right thing in the coming week.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
And the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven,
and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He shall come again to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
