Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading

Today’s first reading is from the Hebrew Scriptures, the Book of Genesis.

Now give to the child to start reading the first reading below.

Today’s first reading is from the first New Testament book of
1 Kings 17:17-24 (ICB)

Elijah Brings a Boy Back to Life
17 Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became sick. He grew worse and worse. Finally he stopped breathing. 18 So the woman said to Elijah, “You are a man of God. What have you done to me? Did you come here to remind me of my sin? Did you come here to kill my son?”

19 Elijah said to her, “Give me your son.” So Elijah took the boy from her and carried him upstairs. Elijah laid the boy on the bed in the room where he was staying. 20 Then he prayed to the Lord. He said, “Lord my God, this widow is letting me stay in her house. Why have you done this terrible thing to her? Why have you caused her son to die?” 21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried out to the Lord, “O Lord my God, please let this child’s spirit return to him.”
22 The Lord answered Elijah’s prayer. The boy began breathing again, and he was alive. 23 Elijah carried the boy downstairs. He gave the boy to his mother and said, “See! Your son is alive!”

24 The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know you really are a man from God. I know that the Lord truly speaks through you!”

The word of the Lord,

Responsorial Psalm
I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.
Introducing the Gospel
The people who lived in Jesus’ time knew the stories from the Old Testament – like the story about Elijah that we just heard.  They heard these stories from their parents and when they went to church.  When Jesus began to teach, things happened that were like those old stories.  Let’s listen to the reading today and see what is the SAME as the first story and what is DIFFERENT.
..with Alleluia!! -,
Welcoming the Gospel
You are welcome Lord of Lords,
You are welcome King of Kings
You are welcome Lord of Hosts
You are welcome Prince of Peace..
You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,
Alle..lluia Might God!!!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit

The Gospel reading is from the book of...”

Luke 7:11-17 (ICB)

Jesus Brings a Man Back to Life

11 The next day Jesus went to a town called Nain. His followers and a large crowd were traveling with him. 12 When he came near the town gate, he saw a funeral. A mother, who was a widow, had lost her only son. A large crowd from the town was with the mother while her son was being carried out. 13 When the Lord saw her, he felt very sorry for her. Jesus said to her, “Don’t cry.” 14 He went up to the coffin and touched it. The men who were carrying it stopped. Jesus said, “Young man, I tell you, get up!” 15 And the son sat up and began to talk. Then Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 All the people were amazed. They began praising God. They said, “A great prophet has come to us! God is taking care of his people.”
17 This news about Jesus spread through all Judea and into all the places around there.

 “The Gospel of the Lord”,

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:
====  7:24 - 7:27 ====
Gospel Reflection.
Ask:  What happened in the Gospel reading that was the SAME as the reading in Kings?  <discuss – the woman whose son died, the son coming back to life>  What did Jesus do differently?  <Jesus raised the boy to life too – the difference is that Elijah prayed to God first. >  Why do you think Jesus didn’t pray to God before raising the boy from the dead?  <discuss – because Jesus IS God>

Say: Both Elijah and Jesus did what God wanted to happen.  They used their hands.  What can you do with your hands that would be what God wants to happen?  <wash dishes, hug family, pick up toys>

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to do the right thing in the coming week.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
And the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven,
and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He shall come again to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-) Intercessions:  You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.

We know that when we pray to God we are not alone, and so we pray together:

Prayer 1. Let us pray also for our most Holy Father Pope Francis, that our God and Lord, who chose him for the Order of Bishops, may keep him safe and unharmed for the Lord's holy Church, to govern the holy People of God. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2. We pray for our brothers and sisters in every country whose family members have died because of war: that they may know that they are not alone and their stories are heard by us. We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 3.
We pray for our parish, family and friends, especially those who look after those who are sad: that they may continue this support with compassion and friendship. We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 4. Let us pray for
God’s people throughout all the ages, He created us in His own image and He loved us into being. May those whose loved ones have died find comfort in Him, and bless those who have returned to you through their death. We pray to the Lord.....

Ask the children close their eyes and give in their petitions silently and conclude after 10seconds in words below

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen
Then...
