====  7:00 - 7:03 ====

Welcome: Today we hear how Jesus asks his disciples who they think he is and how Peter says that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Let's think about how we also know who Jesus is and why our faith is so important to us.

Focus: Memory Verse
Luke 9:24..Whoever wants to save his life, will lose it. And whoever gives his life for me, will save it...

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy
You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy
You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy2
Lord have mercy
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
First Reading
In this reading,
Zechariah tells us of what will happen in the future. God gives him the vision of what will happen- Jesus’ death.

Now give to the child to start reading the first reading below.

Today’s first reading is from the old Testament book of Zechariah 12:10-13:1 (ICB)

Crying for the One They Stabbed
10 “I will give David’s family and people in Jerusalem a spirit of kindness and mercy. They will look at me, the one they have stabbed. And they will cry like someone crying over the death of an only child. They will be as sad as someone who has lost a firstborn son. 11 At that time there will be much crying in Jerusalem. It will be like the crying for Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 The land will cry. Each family will cry alone. The family of David and their wives will cry. The family of Nathan and their wives will cry. 13 The family of Levi and their wives will cry. The family of Shimei and their wives will cry. 14 And all the rest of the families and their wives will cry.

13 “At that time a fountain will be opened. It will be for David’s descendants and for the people of Jerusalem. It will cleanse them of their sins and wrongs.”

This is the word of the Lord,
Responsorial Psalm

We are his people, the sheep of his flock.
Introducing the Gospel

This setting takes place at the time when Jesus first began to teach people.  Many people were confused as to who he really was.  They thought he was a great prophet who taught about God…like Elijah or John the Baptist (Jesus’ cousin).  In this reading, Jesus was talking to Peter and trying to help him understand more about why he came to earth and what was going to happen later.
..with Alleluia!! -,
Welcoming the Gospel

You are welcome Lord of Lords,

You are welcome King of Kings

You are welcome Lord of Hosts

You are welcome Prince of Peace..

You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,

Alle..lluia Might God!!!

Silently say:” Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.
The Lord be with You,
AND with your Spirit
The Gospel reading is from the book of...”

Luke 9:18-24 (ICB)

Jesus Is the Christ.

1One time when Jesus was praying alone, his followers came to gether there. Jesus asked them, “Who do the people say I am?”
19 They answered, “Some say you are John the Baptist. Others say you are Elijah.[a] And others say you are one of the prophets from long ago who has come back to life.”
20 Then Jesus asked, “And who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Christ from God.”
21 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone. Then he said, 22 “The Son of Man must suffer many things. He will be rejected by the Jewish elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of the law. The Son of Man will be killed. But after three days he will be raised from death.”
23 Jesus went on to say to all of them, “If anyone wants to follow me, he must say ‘no’ to the things he wants. Every day he must be willing even to die on a cross, and he must follow me. 24 Whoever wants to save his life will lose it. And whoever gives his life for me will save it.

“The Gospel of the Lord”,

“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
(*)Tell an interesting story according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:

Gospel Reflection.

So Peter, by saying that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, is telling the other disciples that Jesus is very important. He's saying that Jesus is our saviour
Ask: What did Jesus say to Peter? <discuss>  Jesus said to “forget about yourself and take up his cross”.  What do you think that means?  <discuss>

Say:  Jesus taught us all about love.  Jesus’ cross reminds us about his love for all of us.  To follow Jesus, we need to forget about our own selfish needs and show his love to others.

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to do the right thing in the coming week.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
And the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven,
and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He shall come again to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful
Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-) Intercessions:  You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions below.

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the chosen one, so we pray together:

Prayer 1. We pray for our most Holy Father, Pope Francis, our archbishop Cyprian Lwanga, Priests and all the clergy that God and Lord, who chose them to serve the church, may keep them safe and unharmed as they show their actions like those of Christ Jesus. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2. We pray for our government, and governments all over the world to work in harmony with the church. May they know that Jesus is there for all of us, and that Jesus will guide us home, just as He returned home to His Father in Heaven. We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 3. We pray for all people in our parish and schools: that they may be inspired by God to show Christ's love in all that they do, teach and say. We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 4. Let us pray for our families and friends: that we may make time for each other and try to have peaceful relationships... We pray to the Lord....

Ask the children close their eyes and give in their petitions silently and conclude after 10seconds in words below

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen
Then...
