Sunday
19th November, 2017
Preparing the worship space.
Colour: Green
Theme: Talents
==== 7:00 - 7:03 ====
Welcome: Today our Theme looks a little
like coins – but on them, they have a word TALENT. In biblical times, there were
coins, money, that was called TALENT. But we have another meaning for the word
“talent”. Can anyone tell me what the word means today? <a skill, something you know how to do
well> so we must make the best use of the talents we have got.

Entrance Song
All that I am, all
that I do,
All that I'll ever
have, I offer now to you.
All that I dream, all
that I pray,
All that I'll ever
make, I give to you today.
Take and sanctify
these gifts
For your honor,
Lord.
Knowing that I love
and serve you
Is enough reward.
All that I am, all
that I do,
All that I'll ever
have I offer now to you.
Take and sanctify
these gifts
For your honour,
Lord.
Knowing that I love
and serve you
Is enough reward.
All that I dream,
all that I pray,
All that I'll ever
make, I give to you today.

Liturgy of the Word
Introduction of the
first reading.
Say: Today’s first reading is
from the first letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians. When St. Paul wrote his
letters to the people in the early church, he often wrote about the end of the
world. There is a lot in Scripture about
the end of the world. Does anyone know
exactly what will happen at the end of the world? <NO!!!> We know that Jesus will come back and we know
that we will be judged on our behavior......
A prepared child/children come and take the
reading.
1 Thessalonians
5:1-6 (GNT)
Be Ready for
the Lord's Coming
5 There is no need to write you, friends, about
the times and occasions when these things will happen. 2 For you yourselves
know very well that the Day of the Lord will come as a thief comes at night. 3
When people say, “Everything is quiet and safe,” then suddenly destruction will
hit them! It will come as suddenly as the pains that come upon a woman in
labor, and people will not escape. 4 But you, friends, are not in the darkness,
and the Day should not take you by surprise like a thief. 5 All of you are
people who belong to the light, who belong to the day. We do not belong to the
night or to the darkness. 6 So then, we should not be sleeping like the others;
we should be awake and sober.
This is the word of the Lord;
All say “Thanks be to God”.
Ask: What does St. Paul say about the end of the world? <it will come quickly, like a thief in
the night> He says that we will be surprised. So what does that mean to us? <let the children respond>
Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< The
Lord is my light and my salvation.......…>

Introducing the
Gospel
Say: Today’s
Gospel reading comes from the book of Matthew. He tells us about a man who has
several servants. Can anyone tell me what a servant is? <somebody
who does some work for you> This
man decided to take a trip and he called three servants together and put each
of them in charge of something. Listen
to the parable and see what the servants do...…
...with Alleluia!! –
We
sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!
Welcoming the Gospel;
You are welcome Lord of Lords,
You are welcome King of Kings
You are welcome Lord of Hosts
You are welcome Prince of Peace..
You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,
Alle..lluia Might God!!!
The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse
our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy
Gospel”.
The
Leader starts:
-The Lord be with You,
-And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord
Pls note it’s a shorter version
taken.
Matthew 25:14-15 (GNT)
The
Parable of the Three Servants
14 “At that
time the Kingdom of heaven will be like this. Once there was a man who was
about to leave home on a trip; he called his servants and put them in charge of
his property. 15 He gave to each one according to his ability: to one he gave
five thousand gold coins, to another he gave two thousand, and to another he
gave one thousand. Then he left on his trip.
19 “After a
long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with
them. 20 The servant who had received five thousand coins came in and handed
over the other five thousand. ‘You gave me five thousand coins, sir,’ he said.
‘Look! Here are another five thousand that I have earned.’ 21 ‘Well done, you
good and faithful servant!’ said his master. ‘You have been faithful in
managing small amounts, so I will put you in charge of large amounts. Come on
in and share my happiness!’
“The Gospel of the Lord”
All say “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”.
==== 7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to
motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and at children’s level of
understanding like in the suggestions below…
Gospel reflection:
Ask: What happened? <the
servant doubled the man’s money> Why is that good? <because
the servant showed he was trustworthy (by not losing the money) and he showed
that he was really working for the man (by increasing his money)>.
Say: What do you think that God has put you in
charge of? <your skills – things that you can do well with your mind and with your
body> What are some of the things that you can do well? <draw,
read, play football and etc> How can you use your talents to make the
world a better place? <let the
children respond – some ideas are to
draw a picture to cheer someone up, read a story to someone younger, run
errands for an older person, etc.>
Memory Verse:
“Matthew 25:21 “…. <“ Well done, you good and
faithful servant!’ said his master.”>...”x3
Let us stand up and we profess our faith.
Profession
of our faith
I believe in God the Father,
Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only
begotten Son, our Lord:
--bow
down--
Who was conceived by the power of
the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin
Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from
the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God
the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge
the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayers of the Faithful . Now is the time to pray
for our stuff :-) Intercessions.
You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers
or you can use the suggestions here.
We pray together for God’s
help to use our talents wisely:
Leader guides the children to read…
Prayer 1. We pray for world leaders: that they may use their
talents for the good of all people, making the world a fairer place for
everyone to live.... We pray to the Lord...
Prayer 2. We
pray for all children around the world: that they may all have the chance to
learn new skills and to use their talents to make the world a better place…
We pray to the Lord....
Prayer 3. We
pray for our parish, family and friends: that we may not hide our talents away,
but instead use them to help others, especially people who are poor... We pray to the Lord...
Prayer 4. Generous God, you gave us a voice. Help us shout loud for what is
right and fair. You gave us ears. Help us listen to those in need. You gave us
talents. Help us share and multiply them for the good of all your people.... We pray to the Lord...
==== 7:26 - 7:28 ====
Silently, each one tells God their petition.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One
God, for ever and ever. Amen
