Welcome: The Feast of Christ’s Body and Blood(Corpus Christi). Corpus Christi is Latin for Body of Christ.
Today we hear about a very special meal that Jesus shared with his friends, a meal that we remember every time we come to Mass. Let’s think some more about this now

Ask: What was last week’s theme? <Martyrdom.” > We learnt the young men were killed for their faith.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
-strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.
Lord have mercy.

May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?
AMEN

Liturgy of the Word
Introduce the first reading.
The first reading today is from the Old Testament book called Exodus.  (Exodus 24:3-8). We hear again about Moses, When he came down from the mountain, he and his people prepared an animal sacrifice which was their custom.  They were celebrating the covenant that they had made with God.  Listen to the reading and see if you can remember what the Israelites promised to do.

A prepared child/children come and take the reading.
Exodus 24:3-8(GNT)

3 Moses went and told the people all the Lord's commands and all the ordinances, and all the people answered together, “We will do everything that the Lord has said.” 4 Moses wrote down all the Lord's commands. Early the next morning he built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stones, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 Then he sent young men, and they burned sacrifices to the Lord and sacrificed some cattle as fellowship offerings. 6 Moses took half of the blood of the animals and put it in bowls; and the other half he threw against the altar. 7 Then he took the book of the Covenant, in which the Lord's commands were written, and read it aloud to the people. They said, “We will obey the Lord and do everything that he has commanded.”

8 Then Moses took the blood in the bowls and threw it on the people. He said, “This is the blood that seals the covenant which the Lord made with you when he gave all these commands.”

This is the word of the Lord”

All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: First of all, does anyone remember what a covenant is?  <promise>  What did the people of Israel promise to do?  <to follow the rules God gave them>  Can anyone tell me what God will give to those who follow His commands?  <eternal life, heaven>
Say: Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
<I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord!> x3

Introducing the Gospel

Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the New Testament book written by St. Mark.  (Mark 14:12-16, 22-28) St. Mark’s version of what happened at the Last Supper.  Does anyone remember the Last Supper?  <discuss>
St. Mark tells how Jesus and the Apostles were preparing to celebrate the Jewish feast of Passover.  Jesus and his friends got together to celebrate this feast and something new happened.  Pretend that you are one of Jesus’ friends celebrating this feast.  Listen to what St Mark tells us and think about how you feel about it all.
...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!

Yelele yelele Halleluiah. [G]

Chorus:   Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.

1.   Eyende mbele, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.

2.   Moto, moto, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.

The leader reading the gospel, silently says: Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Leader starts: The Lord be with You,
And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark.
Glory to You, O Lord

Mark 14:12-16, 22-28 (GNT)
Jesus Eats the Passover Meal with His Disciples
12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the day the lambs for the Passover meal were killed, Jesus' disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and get the Passover meal ready for you?”
13 Then Jesus sent two of them with these instructions: “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him 14 to the house he enters, and say to the owner of the house: ‘The Teacher says, Where is the room where my disciples and I will eat the Passover meal?’ 15 Then he will show you a large upstairs room, fixed up and furnished, where you will get everything ready for us.”
16 The disciples left, went to the city, and found everything just as Jesus had told them; and they prepared the Passover meal.”.
The Lord's Supper
22 While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples. “Take it,” he said, “this is my body.”

23 Then he took a cup, gave thanks to God, and handed it to them; and they all drank from it. 24 Jesus said, “This is my blood which is poured out for many, my blood which seals God's covenant. 25 I tell you, I will never again drink this wine until the day I drink the new wine in the Kingdom of God.”

26 Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.
The Gospel of the Lord”
“Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”
====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…
Gospel reflection:
What sacrament did Jesus give us at the Last Supper?  <Eucharist> Thinking of the two readings today, one about Moses and the commandments and one about Jesus at the Last Supper, can you think of anything the two readings share?  <they are both about God’s promise to us.  God made a promise to the Israelites when he gave the commandments to them – and Jesus help fulfill God’s promise when he died and rose>
Memory Verse: John 6:56
24 Jesus said, “This is my blood which is poured out for many, my blood which seals God's covenant.”
Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.

Leader: We live in Jesus and He lives in us and so we pray together:

Prayer 1. Let us pray for the leaders of all nations, especially Uganda: may Jesus’s concern for the hungry find a response in their hearts, so that no one in our world dies of hunger, or is forced to live in sub-human conditions... We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 2. We pray for those deprived of the sacraments,
may we be one in love and prayer with all those who are not allowed to practice their faith, and cannot receive their Lord in the Eucharist. We pray to the Lord....
