Sunday 1st November, 2020
Preparing the worship space.
Colour: Green
Theme: Bible

         ====  7:00 - 7:03 ====
Welcome: Today Jesus warns us to be careful when we are deciding what sort of people we want to be. We are asked not to be too proud but to help one another.

                  ==== 7:00 - 7:03 ===
Entrance Song

O Lord, all the world belongs to you.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T13JYd_oi54

O Lord, all the world belongs to You
and You are always making all things new.
What is wrong, You forgive,
and the new life You give
is what’s turning the world upside down.

The world’s only loving to its friends,
but Your way of loving never ends,
loving enemies too;
and this loving with You
is what’s turning the world upside down.

Ask: What was last week’s theme? <“ Two great commandments...”>.  We talked about the 2 greatest commandments, which also included all 10 that God gave Moses.  We learned that we must first of all love and honor God, and then love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

//V// In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
//R// Amen.
//V// May The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all.
//R//  And with Your Spirit.

Penitential Rite
Dear little children, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
Confession of our sins
I confess to the Almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words
in what I have done and In what I have failed to do
          -strike the breast 3 times as you say-
through my fault
through my fault
through my most grievous fault
THEREFORE I ask Blessed Mary Ever Virgin
all the Angels and Saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Oh Lord Have Mercy
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy
Lord have Mercy

You came to sinners
Christ have mercy
Christ have mercy

You are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us.
Lord have mercy.3
Lord have mercy.
May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting?  AMEN.

Liturgy of the Word
Introduction of the first reading.
Say:  Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament book of Malachi.
 When you do the right thing, sometimes you can help someone else do the right thing too.  Today’s reading from the book of Malachi tells about God talking to some of the priests of the church.  Listen and see if you can understand God’s message.... A prepared child/children come and take the reading.

Malachi 2:8-10 (GNT)

8 “But now you priests have turned away from the right path. Your teaching has led many to do wrong. You have broken the covenant I made with you. 9 So I, in turn, will make the people of Israel despise you because you do not obey my will, and when you teach my people, you do not treat everyone alike.”

The People's Unfaithfulness to God
10 Don't we all have the same father? Didn't the same God create us all? Then why do we break our promises to one another, and why do we despise the covenant that God made with our ancestors?
This is the word of the Lord;
All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: What did God say to the priests?  <He said that they set a bad example, he said that some people turned away from God because of the way they acted>  God wants us to remember that we are all God’s children, God wants us to help others to find Him.
Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< Teach me your ways, O Lord.....…> 3x

Introducing the Gospel

Say: Today’s Gospel reading comes from the book of Matthew, here, Jesus tells the people that the priests are experts about scripture.  He tells the people to listen to them.  But then he says something surprising.  Listen to what Jesus said about some leaders.…
...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!
Chorus:    Halleluiah, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah.
1.    Eyende mbele, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah. 2.   Moto, moto, Halleluiah x3 Yelele yelele Halleluiah

The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel”.
The Leader starts:
-The Lord be with You,
-And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Glory to You, O Lord

Matthew 23:1-12G (GNT)

Jesus Warns against the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees

23 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples. 2 “The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees are the authorized interpreters of Moses' Law. 3 So you must obey and follow everything they tell you to do; do not, however, imitate their actions, because they don't practice what they preach. 4 They tie onto people's backs loads that are heavy and hard to carry, yet they aren't willing even to lift a finger to help them carry those loads. 5 They do everything so that people will see them. Look at the straps with scripture verses on them which they wear on their foreheads and arms, and notice how large they are! Notice also how long are the tassels on their cloaks![a] 6 They love the best places at feasts and the reserved seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to have people call them ‘Teacher.’ 8 You must not be called ‘Teacher,’ because you are all equal and have only one Teacher. 9 And you must not call anyone here on earth ‘Father,’ because you have only the one Father in heaven. 10 Nor should you be called ‘Leader,’ because your one and only leader is the Messiah. 11 The greatest one among you must be your servant. 12 Whoever makes himself great will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be made great.
“The Gospel of the Lord”
All say “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”.

====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and at children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…

Gospel reflection:
Ask:  What did Jesus say?  <He said to listen but NOT to do what they do>  Sometimes our leaders say one thing but do something different.  He reminds us that God is our number 1 teacher.  Listen and learn from others, but always go back to God to help you decide what is right.

Memory Verse:
“Matthew 23:11 “…. <“ The greatest one among you must be your servant”>....”. x3
Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
