Liturgy of the Word

First Reading

Now give to the child to start reading the first reading below.

Today’s first reading is from the first New  Testament book of ACTS 15:1-2, 22-29

The Meeting at Jerusalem  15 Some men came from Judea to Antioch and started teaching the believers, “You cannot be saved unless you are circumcised as the Law of Moses requires.” 2 Paul and Barnabas got into a fierce argument with them about this, so it was decided that Paul and Barnabas and some of the others in Antioch should go to Jerusalem and see the apostles and elders about this matter.   Letter to Non-Jewish Believers  22 The apostles, the elders, and the whole church decided to send some of their men with

Paul and Barnabas to Antioch. They chose Judas Barsabbas and Silas, who were respected by the believers. 23 They sent the following letter with them:

From the apostles and elders, your brothers.

To all the non-Jewish believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

Dear Brothers,

24 We have heard that some of our men have come to you and said things that trouble and upset you. But we did not tell them to do this! 25 We have all agreed to choose some men and send them to you. They will be with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26 men who have given their lives to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 So we have sent Judas and Silas with them. They will tell you the same things. 28 It has pleased the Holy Spirit that you should not have a heavy load to carry, and we agree. You need to do only these things: 29 Do not eat any food that has been offered to idols. Do not taste blood. Do not eat any animals that have been strangled. Do not take part in any kind of sexual sin. If you stay away from these things, you will do well.

  Good-bye.

The word of the Lord, …

Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm

O God, let all the nations praise you!

Introducing the Gospel

In today’s gospel from John, Jesus tells his disciples that he will not be with them for much longer and he gives them an instruction for how to behave. Can you remember what he told them to do?

..with Alleluia!! -

Welcoming the Gospel  Good News today, Yes good news, good news today, good news today, the news of

Salavation. Alle-luiaAlle,

A—lleluia x2

 Alle-luia, Alle- luia,

Silently say: ”Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty

God, that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel to your little children.

The Lord be with You,  AND with your Spirit

The Gospel reading is from the book of...” John 14:23-29

Jesus said to his disciples:

“Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.

Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me.

“I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.

Not as the world gives do I give it to you.

Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.

You heard me tell you,

‘I am going away and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe.”  “The Gospel of the Lord”,   “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”

(*)Tell an interesting story according to the

Gospel and children’s level of understanding like in the Gospel reflection:

====  7:24 - 7:27 ====

Gospel Reflection. Ask: So do you think this message of love/peace to others was just for the disciples? (No)

What do you think Jesus wants us to do?

(To have peace in us

Can you remember a time when you stopped fighting with someone and made friends with them again?

Say:  Today Jesus gives his disciples a very special gift. Can you remember what that

gift is? (Peace)

Jesus gives his disciples peace. And he tells his disciples not to be afraid.

 Profession of our faith

I believe in God the Father, Almighty,  Creator of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten

Son, our Lord: --bow down-- Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,  born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate;  was crucified, died and was buried:   He descended into hell: And the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven,  and seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:

From there He shall come again to judge the leaving and the dead: I believe in the Holy Spirit: the holy catholic church:  the communion of saints:

The forgiveness of sins:

The resurrection of the body:

And the life everlasting.  Amen.
