to pray for me to the Lord our God…
Oh Lord Have Mercy
Have Mercy on us oh Lord
For we have sinned against you.

Show us, Oh Lord, your mercy
And grant us your salvation.

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
Lord have Mercy

Liturgy of the Word
Introduction of the first reading.
Say:  Today’s first reading is from the Old Testament, the book of the prophet Daniel 7:13-14. This reading is about a vision of the prophet Daniel.  Does anyone know what a vision is?  <like a dream> Remember, this is a story from the Jewish Scripture so Daniel lived a very long time before Jesus........
A prepared child/children come and take the reading.

Daniel 7:13-14 (GNT)
Daniel’s Vision
13 During this vision in the night, I saw what looked like a human being. He was approaching me, surrounded by clouds, and he went to the one who had been living forever and was presented to him. 14 He was given authority, honor, and royal power, so that the people of all nations, races, and languages would serve him. His authority would last forever, and his kingdom would never end.

This is the word of the Lord;
All say “Thanks be to God”.

Ask: What did you hear about Jesus the King?  <He would be honored in heaven, given power by God, rule forever, everybody worships Him, His kingdom would never be destroyed.>
Let us now focus on our responsorial Psalm:
< The Lord is King; He is robed in majesty.  > Can you say this with me?  <Have the children repeat it, like three times.

Introducing the Gospel
Say: The Gospel selection today is from the book of John 18:33-37.  For the last month or so, we have been hearing readings from the book of Mark, Today is a special Sunday, so we hear from John..  Listen closely…

...with Alleluia!! –
We sing while standing and welcome the gospel!!
Welcoming the Gospel;
You are welcome Lord of Lords,
You are welcome King of Kings
You are welcome Lord of Hosts
You are welcome Prince of Peace..
You are welcome here, Alle-lluia,
Alle..lluia Might God!!!

The leader reading the gospel, silently says: “Cleanse our hearts and our lips almighty God, that we may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
The Leader starts:
-The Lord be with You,
-And with your Spirit.
A reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. John                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 .
Glory to You, O Lord
Pls note it’s a shorter version taken.

John 18:33-37 (GNT)
Pilate and Jesus.

33 Pilate went back into the palace and called Jesus. “Are you the king of the Jews?” he asked him.
34 Jesus answered, “Does this question come from you or have others told you about me?”
35 Pilate replied, “Do you think I am a Jew? It was your own people and the chief priests who handed you over to me. What have you done?”
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom does not belong to this world; if my kingdom belonged to this world, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish authorities. No, my kingdom does not belong here!”
37 So Pilate asked Him, “Are you a king, then?”
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. I was born and came into the world for this one purpose, to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me.”

 “The Gospel of the Lord”
All say “Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ”.

====  7:19 - 7:24 ====
(*) Tell your prepared reflecting story to motivate the children, but according to the Gospel and at children’s level of understanding like in the suggestions below…

Gospel reflection:

Ask:  Does anybody remember when we read this before?  It was right before a great feast.  <Lead the children to remember the great feast of EASTER and then to identify the Sunday before it - Palm Sunday – Its around this time when we hear this Gospel passage.> And even though our Lord Jesus Christ knew that He was about to be killed, He respected the Jewish authorities.

Memory Verse:
“John 18:37 “…. <“… I was born and came into the world for this one purpose, to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me...”>
Let us stand up and we profess our faith.

Profession of our faith
I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
         --bow down--
Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried:
He descended into hell:
The third day he rose again from the dead:
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead:
I believe in the Holy Spirit:
the holy catholic church:
the communion of saints:
The forgiveness of sins:
The resurrection of the body:
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
====  7:24 - 7:26 ====
Prayers of the Faithful . Now is the time to pray for our stuff :-) Intercessions.
You may want to ask the children to offer their own prayers or you can use the suggestions here.
We try to listen to Jesus as we pray together:

A Leader guides the children to read…

Prayer 1. We pray for world leaders: that they may really listen to their people and follow Jesus's example of love and help for all who are in need... We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 2. We pray for all people around the world, especially those who are poor: that they may have the chance to speak out about what is important to them and be listened to… We pray to the Lord....

Prayer 3. We pray for our parish, families and friends: that we may listen to others and to Jesus, and do all that we can to change our lives for the better.... We pray to the Lord...

Prayer 4. Christ our King, help us to be like you, to listen to your truth and to see that all people are important, no matter who they are or where they come from.... We pray to the Lord...

====  7:26 - 7:28 ====
Silently, each one tells God their petition.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen
